Mine as of late is JP8(using PWM on both osc's modestly detuned, VCO2 very slight LFO and ENV mod, and 4 pole LP) through a Boss CE-300; layered it with an alpha Juno bright strings preset. This way there's alot less voice stealing, as opposed to trying to use the JP8's split mode just to get two di...

Come to think on it, the repeat/ext switch might be for external Gates instead of pitch CV, my mistake. Do you hear the pitch change when you engage the Drone switch?

Thanks for the replies. I'd only be comfortable doing the replacement if I could get the control panel off without any risk. Otherwise, best to let someone with 15+ years experience do it. Kind of a bummer the JP8 was sold to me in that condition, but that's just part of analogue ownership.

Jupiter 8 button switches

For anyone who has serviced JP8's, when the button switches have dirty contacts, do you have to replace them? I ask because when it came time to repair the button switches in my TB303, the only solution was replacement. They were sealed from the top, and too fragile to open for getting any cleaner i...

Just wanted to chime in that Jexus' AX80 and MaxiKorg videos have got me gassing for those in particular. I only wish it was smaller because I'm running out of studio room. The taxi chase scene cracks me up. If the AX80 had the chorus in the Kawai SX-240 and a programmer like the 80's Rolands, it de...

As far as sonic character comparison goes, not including variations in controls, the SH-09 has a discrete oscillator and the "Big" version of the 101's filter. By that I mean the 09 uses several VCA chips(BA662) arranged in a certain configuration to achieve a lowpass filter, whereas the 101 uses th...

Not my intention to turn this into a JP8 thread but to answer Yoozer's request, this is a quick montage of JP8 clips I did a while back: http://rogerroger.panicnow.net/music/JP8_Montage.mp3 This link will be gone as of April 1st. To summarize the timbral differences between the 6 & 8, besides the ob...

There's only one vulnerability for DAW's with XP SP2 that I know of. If the audio device runs off a Firewire 800 port, and you upgrade to SP2, the device will default to firewire 100 speeds. I believe there's a patch to fix the problem though. Should otherwise be an improvement all around, although ...

If the farthest right slider won't do it, then there are trimpots inside the machine for tune and scale. I'd have to do some digging to find out which ones, but I remember all the side panel tuning for oscillator 2 is on a PCB that's raised vertically on the rear of the inside.

This thing sort of screams for an editor like the Nord Modular has but as far as I know there isn't one or at least anything nearly that fancy. Closest would be tangentcats: http://tangentcats.com/ Nothing like a graphical drag and connect, I'm afraid. I went to PD for that kind of thing ages ago. ...

Perhaps the recording frequency gets switched to 22khz. This would be evident in the wav file properties. Also if the mixer has EQ on each channel strip, make sure the highs aren't accidently turned down. I've done this before and it was confusing.
