You only get 24 voices, But you can have as many as three oscillators per voice. You can only layer three keymaps per program. That means up to 9 oscillators per note. Yes, but with just samples? I was under the impression that it was only with the internal waveform generators, which only some of t...

I understand that one of the reasons for its popularity is that it can sound analog. I would venture to correct this and say it was one of the first fully digital synths with "analog-sounding" filters. It didn't take long for the Akai S3k and Roland JD800 to surpass it though. Some might even say t...

Regarding Roland and legendary status of certain products, first know that they were also a tiny company at one point who couldn't hardly compete with the ARP's and Moog's, and had to sell their Boss line just to stay afloat. Not until the JP8 really, did they have a product that gave the company a ...

I have a K2vx, which is a K2000 with all the options except the sampling input. I've seen people saying they want one for sample mangling and I just don't understand it, myself: You only get 24 voices, the algorithms must be arranged from a limited set of templates, and there's no FM synthesis, cros...

The ce300 is a very "wet" chorus, ie it isn't very subtle. I can vouch for this, as I just bought one. It apparently has a very short delay time,(3-4 ms which at zero depth produces a combing effect) much like what you were describing with your delay, but the phasing difference between the stereo o...

gear freaks who have thousands invested in amazing gear... but dont do shite with any of it... where's the recordings? This statement itself is potentially a misconception. The amazing gear takes up enough space in any typical household that you either are using it or end up putting it in storage, ...

Could that TM-7 web page have made it any more clear of its male endowment inspiration? I'd only be interested in the 888 if I could get really good 808 samples for the ones missing in the stock 888, especially cowbell . More cowbell is always a good thing. Is there a place to get those tube ...

I tried this just now with my Moog Voyager by modulating only Osc2's waveshape with a square wave LFO. The first sound has the LFO slow enough to hear the switch change between SAW and SQUARE. Then I tuned the LFO to about an octave below C1, slightly detuned. Unfortunately, I can't modulate only Os...

I dont know any other synth current or vintage that can produce such warm synth strings. How about a JP8 in Dual mode with a Boss CE-300 or SDD-320 as an effects send? 8) Yeah, yeah, too expensive and two less voices. The JP8/CE-300 combo is what I use with beautiful results. I used to have a JX8P ...

I actually don't do alot of menu diving on my Virus b. Rather I tend to tweak presets. The only "immediate" performance control I can think of that requires more than a twist of a knob is LFO depth, which depends on what destination you want. Some people get confused about the filter pair routings, ...

I naturally prefer the Pro~One. Where self-oscillating sounds go, the OB takes it more to the extreme, but when it comes to gritty mean basses and bright brass, the P1 just sounds better to me. Something about the OB-1 leads on that site don't sound right to me either. Granted the P1 is pretty dry s...

When I used to have a JX8P, I got this gloopy, nasty sound out of it by routing S&H to filter, pitch and crossmod, all at different amounts. My band hated it. + 1 for subtle use on one osc for a little extra fatness/drift. Also big agreement for being useful for routing to tons of stuff on the ...

You might want to look into an audio recorder app:

I wasn't sure if you wanted to record from a VST plugin or standalone, but I think there are options for either there.
