Re: Looking for some advice on Roland Junos
and the 6/60 actually do sound better I've heard this before, and it interests me as to why this should be so, because the 60 and the 106 have nearly identical voice circuitry. They are both DCO synths and they use identical VCF and VCA circuits. I don't have a 60 to compare to, but I've heard peop...

Re: New Post-80017a Juno Troubles.
I installed the new chip, and soldered appropriate resisters to get the chip to calibrate. I'm confused too. It should not have been necessary to change any resistors. Now the voice will not resonate at all, and I am not sure what I can do about it. I am not sure what components handle the resonanc...

Yeah, we're all broke. But we have gear, and that's the important thing.Box wrote:That's what we all said in the beginning... now look at us... LOOK AT US!!!

I think Gibson still owns it, unfortunately.pricklyrobot wrote:I wonder if he still has the rights to the old Oberheim logo.

Re: NEW REAL OBERHEIM! Don Buchla! Dave Smith! Roger Linn!
Actually, I think the SEM contains very little that is not current (pun semi-intended) or could not be replaced in a new build with common parts, as it didn't use any custom synth chips - it was basically discrete and a few op-amps. It would be perfectly possible to update the few obsolete parts (3...

That top pic is one for the history books. Wish Bob Moog could have been there.

Re: The Musitron
Very interesting. Y'know, I always just assumed that the keyboard on Runaway was a combo organ, but now that I think about it, it does have a timbrality that's a bit different from anything I've ever heard out of a combo organ.

Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER
It's funny, but I remember how clumsy building sequences seemed on the Drummulator, and it was probably pretty good compared to a lot of its contemporaries. But for ease of editing, give me software any day.

This deserves wider recognition. I've blogged it on Sequence 15, and I'll try to get Matrixsynth to pick it up.

What's the purpose of the numeric keypad? Can you enter parameter values with it, or is it just for firmware debugging?

Re: My polysynth is finally finished :D
Wow. Who would have thought that someone could build an analog polysynth from scratch in this day and age. Bravo!
The samples are interesting. The leads and bass sounds are definitely Moogish, but the strings and pads have more of an Oberheim vibe.

What an effort! Excellent! Tell us a bit about the VCO and VCF architecture.

Re: Noisy chorus on Roland synths
Sooooooo, what's a good as well as cheap stereo gate? I use a dbx 266XL, which does both gating and compression. The gating eliminates the hiss, and the compression helps me get the level excursions that the chorus causes under control. I know what people say about the 266, and maybe it's not what ...

Re: Looking for particular stab type instrument from late 80s
A bunch of '80s romplers had orchestra hits, for those budding Trevor Horns out there. I've got a cheap Casio practice keyboard that has some.
