Re: How do you decide a synth is not for you ?
- I need the cash to buy something else, - the keyboard feel is not to my liking (DW8000) - the sounds don't / no longer fit into my music - poor user interface (D70, XE8) - its functionality is limited for what I need (DX7) - I have sampled the sounds I wanted to keep (D50, DX7, EX800) - a missing ...

Re: Cheapest possible hardware for making wind SFX?
Korg EX-800 (Poly-800 in a desktop box). They cost next to nothing second-hand... eh? Since when, people are asking (and getting) as much as 400 for them here. I wouldn't call that next to nothing. :? Really?! I'm talking about 10, maybe 15 years ago. I really don't think they're worth more than £5...

Re: What do you make of Pink Floyd's new album?
I also agree, but also personally find that Pink Floyd isn't very enjoyable when it's too much Roger Waters ie. The Wall and The Final Cut. What attract me to 'The Wall' is that the songs are very catchy and the whole mood of the album is very dark, which tends to hit a sensitive part of my strange...

Although I like The Division Bell and a few songs on MLoR, I have to agree with your statement.Syn303 wrote:Floyd isn't Floyd without Waters

Korg EX-800 (Poly-800 in a desktop box). They cost next to nothing second-hand; I bought and sold mine for £20. It's got a noise generator, a resonant voltage-controlled filter, an LFO and envelopes. That's all you need.

Re: What do you make of Pink Floyd's new album?
I'll give Animals another go. I don't give up that easily when it comes to music! The one I really CAN'T get into (not for want of trying though) is The Final Cut. What were they thinking?! Funnily enough, I'm not keen on Gilmour and Waters' solo efforts which, from my perspective, demonstrates that...

Re: What do you make of Pink Floyd's new album?
Meddle all the way. 'Meddle' doesn't do it for me, except for 'Echoes 'and 'One Of These Days'. I have an original LP but never bought it on CD. DSOTM was a revelation to me. I was introduced to it around the time it came out (I was 6) by an older cousin who lived nearby and also introduced me to t...

Actually, I don't like that one either.monolith wrote:Admittedly I've only listened to it once, but yeah - 'New Age' was my first thought.
I think Animals was the last decent album they did.

What do you make of Pink Floyd's new album?
http://www.thedailystar.net/upload/gallery/image/arts/the-endless-river-pink-floyd-album.jpg I don't know whether I like it or not. The tracks being mostly discarded jams from the 1994 Division Bell sessions, they sound very much like Pink Floyd's output from that era, which is great but, after lis...

Re: Identify this Tears For Fears Drum Sample
I got very close to the 'Mad World' sound by layering the K2 sample from the CMI Percussion disc with the Gamelan sample ( Gam2 ) from the second Mallets disc. I tuned the latter down by 7 semitones and played a Gsus4 chord. Here's a dry demo... https://soundcloud.com/gcoudert/mad-world ...and a wet...
