Re: Yamaha TX-7 wont fire up?
Even with a dead battery, the unit would still power up. You would lose your patches and their names would be replaced with odd characters in the display. It's definitely a power issue. Check the fuse first!

Re: Why did D+B artists use EMU 4's if midi timing is bad?
I've had an E4K for years and I've never noticed any MIDI timing issues. The main problem with the E4 line is the stupid buttons that either double-trigger or don't trigger at all after a while.

I see... I must admit my soldering skills were never very good. I will look into this.

Re: DX7 Mark 1 battery change problem
My upgrade is the Sycologic MEX V.2 or something like that. You can see a photo of it in the synth guts thread. It doesn't appear to have its own battery. I did install a battery holder but I should perhaps have followed the advice given to me by another forum member and soldered the battery on dire...

DX7 Mark 1 battery change problem
I have finally changed the battery in my DX7. I am experiencing a strange problem, however. The battery check display shows a healthy 4.4V and I can load my sounds back in via sysex without any problems. However, if I switch the DX7 off for about one minute or more, the sounds and their names disapp...

Re: Basic MIDI Help
I guess it's a Cubase issue. In Cubase (I'm only familiar with Cubase VST 32), make sure that: 1. Cubase recognises your MIDI card, i.e. somewhere in MIDI Options or whatever, the correct MIDI In and Out device is selected and active, 2. That you have selected a MIDI Out channel for the currently se...

Sync patch on DX7? Is it possible?
If you have a DX7, try this and tell me what you think! I created this patch pretty much by accident and liked it. It's a fairly convincing (imho) sync patch, especially on the first 2/3 of the keyboard. Sorry if the parameters aren't all in the right place, I copied the parameters from my DX7 mark ...

Re: fairlight (?) choir samples needed
I did. It wasn't one of the samples though. I reckon it's an Emulator anyway.madtheory wrote:Someone uploaded it here recently, try a search for the thread.

Re: What Synth have you gigged the most?
I don't gig any more but when I did, I used my DX7S quite a lot, primarily as a MIDI controller for my sorely missed Wavestation SR and Hammond XM1.

Re: Sampling Keyboard suggestions
I got my E-mu E4K for £220 from a guy in Central London. Amazing keyboard; essentially an Emulator IV with a 76-note keyboard. Fantastic sampling, synthesis functions, modulation routings, 4 stereo outs usable as 8 mono outs, internal HD, SCSI, FX, up to 128Mb RAM using standard 72-pin SIMMs, 4 assi...

Oh, definitely, that's why the ART is much cheaper!madtheory wrote:IMO the Quadraverb is vastly superior to the ART, I've owned both.

Re: list some of the forgotten digital multi effect racks
I like my ART Multiverb Alpha SE (£7 on Ebay). It's a little noisy but it's stereo, programmable, fully editable, it has MIDI and you can chain loads of FX via algorithms. It obviously has reverbs, gated reverbs, chorus, flanger, pan, MIDI-pan, tapped, regen and stereo delays, phaser, tremolo, (dual...

Re: Reaper 3.0 is out!
I'd give it a try as I liked the previous version but I still can't get my Vista laptop to run music apps properly. It still slows down and accelerates for some reason.
