808 Style

Bah towards the title. Anyways, I'm looking for a drum machine that sounds similar or close to the TR-808. For a while I was going for the TR-606, but after listening more to it and playing around with samples, it's not the sound I'm looking for. I know you can mod the 606 to make it sound more 808i...

Yep, it's just a CR2032. Fairly common to find in any store. Here's a picture of the board that I took when I had mine open.

The battery is on the very bottom in the middle.

Is there much of a difference between the PSS-570 and the PSS-560? I know mine you can't write the beats, just use the sliders to adjust them.

This seems like a job for AC! Maybe he could get his JP4 out and replicate some of the sounds? ;)

I can't find the site now, but a long time ago I found an album composed entirely from Yamaha PSS and PSR keyboards. Here's one of the songs I downloaded from the site.. it's really catchy I think. ;) http://www.zshare.net/audio/15218909f040d9eb/ I seriously played this song on repeat for a few nigh...

I don't mind it on that. But if it was on something like a DX-7, I probably would mind it a little.

Mine you can tap on the case and hear that being picked up in the recording/speakers.

The music for Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade started it for me. That and the original music you heard while waiting to ride on Space Mountain.

There's a mod to make it multitimbral I believe. I've heard some people say they use a MT-32 for that while others make it seem like it's an internal mod.

Re: Corey Hart - Sunglasses At Night

i would say that he used the Alesis QuadraVerb GT, but that did not come out until 1991, and that song is from like 87 I think... Heck, maybe he borrowed Doc Brown's DeLorean and traveled to 2001 and picked up an Andromeda and then brought it back with him to 1982-83 and recorded it with that! ;) T...

Then just start going back in the thread. It started in 2005 and a lot of pictures from the beginning don't load anymore.
