Can you point me to a sample of that sound to listen to, and do you still have the samples you sent to matrixsynth? http://www.zshare.net/audio/14255849e895b7eb/ I also love that sound. It's so ominous and mysterious. Now I'm wondering if the A6 could pull that sound off as well. :P I'd like to tha...

Unfortunately not too many. I happen to be one. I'm lucky to live in LA where you still find lots of bargains. My latest find was a OB 8 for $320. Needed some work. It's at the shop right now, but it will be fine. This past week a white face odyssey sold for 300 and a prophet 5 for 1100, both on cr...

Kimball string synth?

My question is.. what exactly is it? I've never seen it before. To me it looks almost like a string synthesizer from the 70s. I had always thought Kimball produced only pianos and organs. Ideas?

Bigbag is correct, mixing ≠ mastering. Hossinfeffa: Please don't offer advice about something you don't really know about. Mixing two of your own songs doesn't make you an expert in mastering, but you're offering advice as though you were. I'm not trying to dis you or anything, but anyone who comes...

Ok - that's not really how it works. Once you've tracked everything, then you will probably need to EQ and compress each voice seperately in order to get it to sit well in the mix. If you've got two voices sharing bandwidth, you will lose definition. Lack of compression can lead to fluctuations in ...

What sort of software would I use? I'm mainly getting this done by someone else because I need a "glass master", & partially because I have no experience mastering. I personally choose Adobe Audition 1.5 as my sound recorder/editor/mixer. All you would really need is that and have each instrument o...

Re: Getting an album mastered, what should I know?
I'm going to get my first album mastered in August. Is there any tips anyone would recommend to make sure I don't get screwed around? (i.e. - making sure they don't go cutting the dynamic range to make it louder). I'm spending my college fund here (all $700 dollars of it), so I'd like to keep screw...

I seem to be getting a little bug, it only happens sometimes though. It seems if I use the pitch bend or mod wheel enough, they start to edit seemingly random parameters like ENV 3 and such. I know you can assign what you want them to control, but if they're already assigned to something else and th...

Don't have a job at the moment, but I could get some more black ink and print it out here if I really need to. By the way, since the A6 is my first VCO, how long do you usually let them warm up? For me, I turn temperature and background tuning off and let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes, and then...

I'm trying to order a hard copy of the manual from Alesis, haven't heard from them back yet. I prefer hard copies over PDF's. I just read them better. I haven't tried any of my external effects on the A6 yet. Mainly due to a lack of cables I have currently. But I do remember hearing that someone mad...
