Re: Side-Chain Compression
Why not just software? if you're set on hardware i'd go for an alesis 3630 http://www.alesis.com/3630 +1 for the 3630. I just picked one up for $50 Australian, for the express purpose of sidechaining pads. I'm happy with it. 8-) Apparently there are mods you can do witch make it better. The 3630 wi...

Re: The easy fix
I got my CS-5 for $120 because of the initial level knobAutomatic Gainsay wrote:
God bless "initial gain"
The thing is, the guy who sold it had a lot of other, far more complex synths... but couldn't work out the CS-5..

Re: I dropped a pick in my synth
I got dead roaches, mouse s**t, a small chrysalis and ghost turds out of my CS-5, and that was only removing the side panels.

Innervisions is one of my favourite albums of all time. Was it a Minimoog doing the bass synth on 'Too High'?

Re: Swap SH-101 for SH-2 ??
Thanks a lot for the elaborate answer. I am also amazed by the thundering non-resonnant sh-2 bass, but the other sounds did not impressed me as much. And the 101 can also sound quite thundering too in some cases. Seems like we're on the same wavelenght about synths! Maybe you're helping me to avoid...

Re: Swap SH-101 for SH-2 ??
I've got both and like the SH-101 a LOT more. Like you said it has very wide sweet spot, i think it sounds great all the time. There are a few times where I marvel at how fat the SH-2 sounds with the filter wide open and no resonance, but apart from that very little about it inspires me musically. W...

If you're wanting to sequence monophonic lines, how about the Korg Electribe EA-1?

Re: Korg Radias price drop to $699
The MS2000 always struck me as a toy synth, not to be taken seriously. Not directed at you personally, but I never quite get what people mean by this, you can make good music with just about anything. And you don't have to take music or an instrument seriously to make good music either. I personall...

Re: What Is the Sexiest-Looking Synth?
Without exception, these last two pages are scraping the bottom of the synth barrel ... A shocking yellow Q ... ??? Sexy ... ??? And some of this other redheaded stepsynths ... ?!?!? This is a sexiest thread ... Not a highschool yearbook ... I don't mind yellow, but the Q doesn't do it for ...

Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Musick - What Synths?
Is any one here familiar with this album? I'm wondering what synths were used on it.
Perhaps Micke might know?
It's well worth a listen if you've not heard it - it's awesome for relaxing, and even better for exploring inner space.
