Which MPC for a beginner?

Any MPC users here? My girlfriend wants to get an MPC, but hasn't had much experience in using one. (neither have I) The options are a 1000, 2500, or 2000xl. What would be the best for a first time MPC user? Easiest to learn? The 1000 and 2000xl are about the same price and the 2000xl has - a zip dr...

TR-707 vs TR-626

Which one would you prefer?

The 707 has the 'mixer' but the 626 has more versatile accent programming, and pitch control too.

Are the sounds the same?

The 626 is $50AU more.

Also I already have a TR-505

Re: Best Vocoder? Hardware or Modular?

I just got an Electrix Warp factory, I quite like it. You can supply the carrier source, and it's very intelligible. Doepfer has released a vocoder module that apparently was developed with input from Florian Schneider. (Kraftwerk) http://www.doepfer.de/a129e.htm Looks complex, the sound demos are ...

Re: name that drum machine...

Korg ER-1? That made me laugh. (If you you ever used or heard one you'd know why) Yeah I've got an ER-1. I know i was pushing it on the bass side of things, but every other part sounds possible. I just put ER-1 out there because sometimes these sort of 'Name that ------' threads have surprising res...

That's a cool track. The brass sound is quite nice indeed. Is synth1 a software synth?

Re: Roland SH201 killed me

what is interesting about the SH 201 and the other one from the same black list (Juno d) is that those two were the only boards Front 242 had on stage when I saw them live in Germany (2008). Go figure. On the other hand Front didn't do anything worth mentioning since Tyranny era. That can be an exp...

Re: Tell me about the Yamaha CS-5

BTW the seller is talking through his a*s about the circuitry. The whole CS series use normal 44xx series (I think) CMOS chips, plus Yamaha's own chips for the oscillator and filter. Could you tell me a little more about this? It doesn't have discrete circuitry then? If there is a problem with the ...

Re: Tell me about the Yamaha CS-5

Thanks for the links druzz, funky is a good description for those sounds. 8-) I have a few tracks up where all the synth parts are CS-15, mostly through a Yamaha E1010 but otherwise no EQ or any treatments. Listen here: http://www.myspace.com/stabfrenzy Blorn Again has the most variety in sounds, th...
