Is the unit brand new? If so get a replacement.
If not, contact Moog, tell them what happened, and most likely they'll send you a new jack. Replace it and voila.

Re: Pro Tools 9!
That would be wise. The HD interfaces are old technology and there are cheaper units out there that sound better. Overall, this is good news. I use Cubase primarily, but I'm starting to work as an assistant engineer at a local pro studio that uses ProTools. If this job works out, I'll definitely be ...

Re: Pro Tools 9!
I think it's interesting that with this release, Avid is going away from software/hardware integration whereas other manufactures are going towards it (Steinberg and Yamaha, Sonar and Roland).

Re: Pro Tools 9!
Depends on the market. Pro studios? I bet it is 85% or higher. Bedroom studios? Not so much.

Re: Pro Tools 9!
The only advantage of using ProTools vs. any other DAW software is compatibility since most professional recording studios use PT. That said, it's not hard to, for example, track in Cubase and mix in PT.

Seems like the retailer you bought it from would replace it for you if it didn't work.

Re: Yamaha Motif 6 Classic or MO6?
Definitely the Classic. The MO6 is cheap and feels cheap. The action on the original Motif is MUCH better and it's built like a tank.

Re: What expression pedal to get.
I would get a Yamaha FC-7. Built like a tank and you can wire it (or make adapters for it) to work with whatever synth you want.
The DSI one look a lot like the Roland EV5, which is a total pile of s**t.

Re: Yamaha DX1
Sounds like FM to me.
I agree with Clyde. The SY77/99 can do all that + way more. And the FS1r is totally off the hook. I have all three.
Nice sounds, though.

I always assumed the pad sound on Mercy Street was from the Prophet 5.

Re: Recording Synths DI
The difference in the Radial is the quality of the transformer. They use Jensen transformers, which are renown for their very transparent, hi-fi sound. The transformer they use is normally about $80 if you were to buy it from Jensen yourself, so you can see where a lot of Radial's costs come from. Y...

Re: Artists' "Signature" Synth Sounds
Duke is pretty much all CP70 when it comes to "piano" sounds, though I seem to remember one track that had a real acoustic piano on it. "Please Don't Ask" maybe?

What's the organ sound on Duke? I always assumed it was the Prophet-5 through a phaser like on Abacab.

Re: Artists' "Signature" Synth Sounds
What are the string sounds on "And Then There Were Three..."? I've always loved those sounds. Afaik most of the string sounds on that album are from the Roland RS-202, although "Many too many" uses a combined string sound of the RS-202 and mellotron. In this song Tony also combined the RS-202 strin...
