Re: What's Your Favorite Keyboard Stand?
I have a Standtastic three tier in the studio. It's very solid and adjustable. Live I've been using an On-Stage Stands Z-style dual-tier. I love it because it's solid, but it takes time to tear it down and set it up. It would work great in the studio as well. In fact, I'll be buying another next wee...

Re: Best Clavinet Box
Emulating the sound of a clavinet isn't hard. The Nord Electro 2 rack has a great one, the Yamaha Motif series have great ones... pretty much any ROMpler released in the last 10 years has good ones. And there are also lots of plug-ins that sound great. But... and this is a big BUT... nobody can emul...

Re: Using Velcro with Gear
Use gaffer tape under the Velcro. Gaffer tape doesn't leave any residue when removed. If you stick the Velcro directly on yor board, it will leave a mess behind.

Re: Yamaha EX5r flash RAM problem
I know they are hard to find, which is why I asked him for his when he told me he was selling the synth. I don't know what kind of flash RAM it is; it came with the synth when he bought it used about 6 years ago or so. Like I said, it worked perfectly in his EX5, displaying the full 16mb. In my EX5r...

Yamaha EX5r flash RAM problem
My buddy is selling his EX5 to a bandmate and I requested snatching the flash RAM out of it before hand, to which he agreed. Sweetness. Before I took it out, I checked the RAM in the EX5's diagnostic mode and it checked out fine. Put it into my EX5r, ran the RAM test in diagnostic mode, and it's onl...

Boo. Is the effects chip socketed? Maybe taking it out and putting it back in may help. Might be time for a tech.

Re: SY77 problem
The low battery most likely isn't related to the issue at hand. Then again, when you open it up to change the battery you might see something obvious, like a ribbon cable half out of socket or dried crud from someone spilling something in it, which may give you some more information on what to do.

Does it do it with the FX bypassed? There's an FX bypass button on the front panel.

Re: Mopho Keyboard - Fun with arppegiators!
I'm a Yamaha fanboy, through and through. As I mentioned, I have a Motif ES rack but it's now residing in LA. I'm playing with a band based out there (I'm in Michigan) that tours the country and internationally. So I need to replace it for gigs back home. I'm thinking of getting another ES rack and ...

Thank you both!
Synthaholic, how do you like the XS6? I want to get one to replace my Motif ES rack, which is now on the West Coast for when I have gigs out there. I'm also jealous that you have an A6. One of these days I hope to have one.
