Re: Taking the SE1X plunge!
Yeah, the white is slick. The blue is okay... probably looks better in person. I do like the orange, though. Here's a pic.

The Xi options seem pretty cool.

Re: Holy c**p! User defined algorhithms on SY77
0e0, that's correct. But what I'm talking about is actually creating your own algorithms from scratch. The pdf above shows a custom algorithm the author created called "#46" (as you know, the SY77/99 only have 45 algorithms stock). I sent an email to the authors of MIDI Quest and he said that their ...

Re: I've just got Yamaha Electone D85
I read that post too awhile ago, but he's making a lot of assumptions. Again, if you think about the competition at the time in the home organ market, you had the big names: Hammond, Conn, Lowry, Baldwin, and Gulbransen. None of those organs need to be tuned. So what if you were Yamaha, trying to ge...

Re: cubase stop start
This is a nice article about the System Timestamp and reasons being it.

Re: cubase stop start
Also, there is a check box somewhere in Cubase for "Use system timestamp" or something like that (not near my music machine at the moment so sorry for the ambiguity) that clears up all sorts of MIDI problems when it is checked. I was having big issues with MIDI data being recorded late until I check...

Re: I've just got Yamaha Electone D85
Yamaha was smart. Home organists didn't want to have to keep calibrating and tuning their organ, especially since something like a tonewheel Hammond doesn't need to be tuned. So fully digital oscillators make perfect sense.

Re: How to make analog synthesizer sounds like C64?
Thanks for the reply. I'm curious about that SammichSID kit as well but right now the MSSIAH would be the cheaper option and unfortunately cheaper is better for me at the moment. I figure I could always sell the cartridge if I didn't like it or didn't dig using the bulky C64 hardware.

Re: cubase stop start
I'm not sure if you can edit the MIDI clock. Why is the drum machine going out of time? Can it not sync to a MIDI clock? What drum machine is it?

Re: REcording a bass guitar
The best way is to use a preamp that has a direct input (DI), specifically one made for bass guitar. However, most professional preamps have DI's that sound great on a bass.

Holy c**p! User defined algorhithms on SY77
I just downloaded this and was reading along when I got to page 26: http://www.xs4all.nl/~galink/sy-prog.pdf Holy c**p! You can make your own algorithms? Does anyone know anything more about this? Supposedly it can be done over MIDI with an editor and the author of the above ebook mentions SoundDriv...

Do you find the screen to be a big drag? I'm not fully convinced that MSSIAH is the way to go vs. a Midibox SID or something.

Re: How to make analog synthesizer sounds like C64?
Just an update: I got the lot of Commodore computers a few weeks ago. They all work. I opened them up and cleaned them and looked at the SID chips. They are all 6581s, two originals, one v2, and one v3. Even the C128s had 6581s in them. Interesting. I'm going to get the MSSIAH cartridge and the dual...

Re: TG/SY77 High Contrast Blue Replacement LCD Module
That looks slick! Great job! I need to do my SY99 and now I'm tempted to do the black on white. However, my SY77 is white on blue so I should probably keep them both the same.
EDIT: I wonder if the black on white would work with the Wavestation?

The FS1r and the SY77 are two different flavors. I'm glad to have both.
