Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
It was fairly inexpensive (not the prices you suggested) for a hardly used M5 and I misjudged the pics I viewed. On retrospect, yes, of course, you're right, I should've been more careful. I honestly did think it was about the same size (slightly bigger) than an ARP 2600. On top of that, it is so we...

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
If you wanted an arp, why didn't you just get an arp? You clearly have the money I wanted a new ARP 2600 and they don't make them. From discussions I've had with some people on the 'net, it was suggested that this might be a better way to go since MacBeth are still in business and uses more updated...

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
What I've decided is to put it up for sale and ask for offers. If someone offers me money that is something around what I have in mind, and it seems like an easy transaction (hassle free) then it goes. Otherwise I'll keep it for a while, use it when I can, maybe a year and then discount it further d...

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
I'm saying this because it's big and heavy and I ain't carrying that boulder around for the rest of my life. I thought it would be closer in size to an ARP 2600. It does sound good though.

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
After setting it up and playing with it for a bit, I think it'll have to go. It's too f..ing big! But in the meantime, I know, make some sounds...

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
Nova Scotia is funny place to be in sometimes. Everything and everyone comes here sooner or more likely, later. We had Paul McCartney last year (it didn't sell out), The Rolling Stones the year before and this year, mind you in a smaller venue, an intimate evening with Jon Anderson. I think Pete Bes...

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
I think in the end, my ARP 2600 didn't sound like an ARP 2600 anyway with all those weird patches I was doing. I still have a copy of my ARP 2600 patchbook and I'll find out soon enough. Maybe I'll post some old recordings that are good for an A/B comparison. I hope I don't regret this purchase. It ...

Re: MacBeth M5 Synthsizers
I just bought one and am expecting delivery within a day or two. I'm excited. I sold my ARP 2600 about 12 years ago and although it was quirky (the scales were off and needed calibration), I miss it. So imagine my surprise to discover not more than an hours drive away, there's one for sale! I decide...

MacBeth M5 Synthesizers
Does anyone have one? Is it like an Arp 2600 in sound and design? Is the company still in business? Should I buy one? I used to have an Arp 2600, and I sorely miss it. Does anyone have a link to a write up?review etc. I've seen the youtube stuff. For those who don't know what this is, here are a cou...

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?
Pretty sure this has been discussed before but my 'guerrilla' set up consists of a Roland MC505, Korg Prophecy and a Moog Theremin.
No mixer, just as is sent to the sound man.

Re: Do You Keep a Synth Just For One Special Sound?
Yes.
Korg Prophecy for the phase wind patch A47 - it's a great lead sound, very textural. I graduated from the DX7 'Feed Lead' to the Prophecy's A47

Re: Most physically attractive synths
I really like this design but as suggested before, the feel of the knobs are a little spongy.

Re: Slim Phatty
-- On SonicState's podcast this week one of the contributors was beta testing one, he mentioned it's really small. That made me look at the pics some more and you can see the knobs are much closer together than on the LP, also different/smaller buttons. interesting point. i hadn't even noticed - I ...
