Re: What was the first digital-analog hybrid?
Fairly certain it was the PPG 1020 - don't own one, but all I've ever read or heard about them is that it was Palm's first synth to use digital oscillators. I'm curious about the RMI KC1 - if it utilized any analog processing after the digital waves (analog VCA/ENV), it would be an even earlier hyb...

From http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicexpress/instruments/index.html#chapter=A%26section=5%26tasks=true I found the following: Digital Synthesizers .... The breathtaking developments in the digital world are best illustrated by the following example. The first program that emulated sound gener...

Re: What was the first digital-analog hybrid?
Technically, wouldn't it be one of those 1950s synth that use punch cards to program them? I mean, those use on/off info, like digital synths do. Or is that stretching it? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uHET-kFLjqw/SPWaSAg0_KI/AAAAAAAAAXo/iIltDa7Rs9U/s400/rca_synth_2.jpg http://120years.net/machines/rca/...

I like it and would buy it if I didn't have a voyager. I think it's going to be widely popular.

Re: Slim Phatty
In the UK, value added tax will be going up from 17.5% to 20% in January. Grrrr.... governments..... Buy stuff early! That is crazy! You guys ought to embrace more economic liberty..I feel bad that the isle of Adam Smith is being slammed with overzealous taxation. You guys should have some Moogs if...

Re: Slim Phatty
Doesn't the UK price have all the taxes added in? In Canada you're expected to add at least 15% in taxes and I assume it's the same for the US, that you add tax on top where as in the UK, you don't? Is that the case?

Re: Slim Phatty
I challenge people not to turn this into a bitching thread. Bet you can't do it. I think it's stupid that moog would make this without a keyboard. if they could make a version of this with an inbuilt keyboard then people would buy tons of them. They did. It's the Little Phatty! http://www.hyperdust...

Re: What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?
When you say 'deepest' synth do you mean: - most modulation possibilities? ie many different means of expression. -->Andromeda, Matrix-12/Xpander, Clavia Nord Modular - deepest menus? -->Wavestation - the most functionality in one package? -->Kurzweil V.A.S.T 2k--, Korg OASYS etc In whatever case '...

What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?
So far it's the Korg Karma because i try to program it without a computer (in fact I don't use a computer to program anything) and I've barely scratched the surface.
The Yamaha CS 40m is pretty deep too.

....They are worthy and respectful machines when 100%, you've just been lucky. Maybe I have but I did have to replace the LCD screen for $200 and it survived an emergency transport (barely) when we had to evacuate due to a forest fire. However I had to get the knobs reserviced as they became loose ...

Re: Thinking of selling up?
.... So, put everything in storage for a while. When you don't notice yourself missing something after 3 months - then start selling it; but not before you haul it out of storage and listen to it again for a while - carefully. If you don't fall in love again, you know you can safely get rid of it.....
