Re: Filter resonance visualization

it's my opinion that looking at these things in time domain (via a scope or a 'waveform view') is just not going to provide that much useful information. you might be seeing, as someone pointed out, differences in the waveform generation much more than how the filter affects it (depending on where ...

Re: Filter resonance visualization

ideally, different waveforms would respond in a predictable way, just stripping out the harmonics as the filter cutoff changes. in reality, it's this very un-ideal nature of analog that keeps people interested and is sometimes the basis for that signature sound. I agree. Regarding white noise, ther...

Re: Filter resonance visualization

There was a similar thread a few months ago. I too think visuals give a good hint of what´s going on when programming. So the sawtooths with the small spikes are the crisper sounding, right? I guess with experience you could almost predict the character of the synth just by watching the waves. The R...

Re: PWMing sound examples?

Sorry about that. This one should work. Same file. http://www.divshare.com/download/12541505-28a Well, the out-of-phase waves should be summed before you add filtering, dynamics, fx etc, not after. Otherwise there will be too much going on each wave and hardly any useful cancelation will happen. Jus...

Re: MF-101 input impedance

I don´t have an MF-101 but I´d like to see a schematic... Here´s the Stomp Box Adapter: http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/pic/schem_cgs60v2_sba.gif I just use the two resistors for connecting any of my synths to a Small Stone. Easily fit inside the barrel of a plug. The SS output gets weak and that´s...

Download trial version of Zelscope here http://www.zelscope.com/download.html
Play the audio file and hit play in Zelscope to watch the waveforms. Notice how 0:30 is very similar to 0:09... Image

Re: PWMing sound examples?

@ solderman - Nope I didn't detune. I can detune one while playing them together which to me I don't think is producing a true PWM by playing them together on my sampler, it sounds like normal detuning between any two indentical sampled sounds. He´s right. If one of the waves is slightly detuned it...

Re: Korg DW8000 help

You mean KLM-661? On page 40 of the Service Manual , chapter 8 - Adjustment Procedures, step 7 says it´s around 6.4MHz, measured at TP-CLK.
KLM-661 on page 18.

Don´t forget to respect the polarities (sorry if you already knew about it but it´s always good advice).

Re: Roland VP-330 Human Voice Filter

http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Buffers%20Switchers%20Mixers%20and%20Routers/Simple%20Mixers.gif Try the second circuit. Since every R6 in your schematic are 100k, all 10k resistors should also be 100k for a gain of 1. I´d even try connecting the filter output straight to the Al...

Re: Roland VP-330 Human Voice Filter

Personally I found the filter in the first demo to sound better even without the jh chorus :) As for the chips - no particular reason. I suppose for simplicity since the LM386 is a self-contained amplifier circuit and needs only one voltage source whereas the op amps need two. I don't have a lot of ...

Re: Roland VP-330 Human Voice Filter

Thanks for sharing the schematics.
I think the first demo sounded better. Why the added gain section using an LM386 instead of a normal opamp?

The Fonitronik Attenuverting Mixer is a very useful module too. It works as a four attenuator/inverter bank, summing mixer and CV generator. http://www.schneidersbuero.de/index.php?sect=products&lang=en&product=Fonitronik%20Attenuverting%20Mixer&hersteller=Fonitronik&kategorie=hersteller¤cy=EU...

Re: Korg Lambda chorus/phase trouble

OK, C2 is common to both Perc and Ens but nevertheless it´s still an old tantalum cap. And it´s attached to the negative rail of the power supply. Those can cause shorts when they fail, so I´d replace it with an electrolytic 1,5uF/25V, or a new tantalum.
