Re: Korg Lambda chorus/phase trouble
Also the two cut off resistors are still boggling me. Those cut off resistors are in paralel with R107 and R108. Notice A is in the Percussive section and C is in the Ensemble section. The Percussive section is running fine, so neither resistors seem responsable for any malfunction. They could be a...

Re: Juno 106 square wave not functioniong
The schematics are easy to read once you get used to them. Of course it wouldn´t matter much if the Juno didn´t sound half as good, and so prone to fail :) BTW I found the ICB. It´s inside the MC wave generator chips. For all of them to fail in this situation, the cause should be around their common...

Re: Juno 106 square wave not functioniong
There might be a malfunction in the PW circuits. A PW of 100% mutes the square wave. This is on page 9. I couldn´t spot that ICB chip though. http://i38.tinypic.com/2yvs0a1.jpg A bad PWM slider or the controlling IC (IC1 in the panel board) isn´t out of the question, I think. Set PWM to manual and m...

Re: Analog FM Synthesis?
Again, I just gotta say: FM is different from FM Synthesis. Nearly all analog synths are capable of modulating frequency in some fashion or another. FM Synthesis the process of modulating oscillators with oscillators in order to achieve a desired sound, not just modulation of an oscillator, modulat...

Re: Analog FM Synthesis?
Are those two posts relating to my previous post? Do you think it´s not a useable feature? Think of it as a primitive 3 op / 1 algo FM, like Osc 3 modulates Osc 1 & 2 (and that´s about it). But when Osc 3 is set above "Low" it will be in the audio range. Plus it can track the keyboard. For instance ...

What about JA5 that was grounding the path to the CPU board when not in use, should we be concerned about it?

The Minimoog D does FM too.

Re: Starting small in the world of Modular synths
Yeah, I guess every format has its own disavantadges. Well if space is not an issue the only solution is to well add more modules and build a "cathedral" :) With all the 3U cases I´m now thinking towards "banks". Oscillator banks, filter banks, modulator banks, utilities and so on. Each in its own b...

Re: Wish For An Analog Synth Magazine
Seriously speaking, a 3-head cassette deck and a mixer can provide stereo tape delay effects, and some even have variable speed control.
You can also use cassettes for tape compression/saturation/distortion/lofi...

Re: Clap sounds with synths
Eheh thanks, I spent an hour in the making of the "tutorial" but upon a second listening the thing does sound more like a mixture of a snare and a clap (snap?).
BTW the Boss DR-110 appears to use a similar technique as the 909 for generating claps. You can tell it´s synthesized but it sounds amazing.

Re: Starting small in the world of Modular synths
This book http://members.cox.net/barryklein/em.htm seems to be still available. IMO it´s best to ponder which format to adopt first. Frac and Euro are not compatible, so I´ve read. One module won´t fit into another´s chassis. And most feature too many knobs, connectors and switches crammed in too na...

Re: Wish For An Analog Synth Magazine
I would subscribe. Price point for 6 issues a year could be around, IDK, 36€? Unbiased articles are always welcome of course. Quality of paper, same as Keyboard, nothing too luxury needed. Full-colour for new gear reviews; black & white for schematics, reader´s letters etc...

Re: Clap sounds with synths
I think it´s best to use two signal paths simultaneously. One for the multiple attacks portion and one for the early reflections type portion. Something like a Yamaha CS-15 or a rompler in combi mode can do the trick. So I made this with a Yamaha SY85: Started with bandpassed filtered white noise. A...

Re: Wish For An Analog Synth Magazine
Why the need for a magazine at all, when we have this forum? Sometimes I get tired of staring at a computer screen. Plus the forum is a good source of information but doesn´t cover everything as a dedicated mag does. Such as interviews with pro musicians and designers. In some SoS for instance Alan...

Re: If software synths had occured BEFORE hardware synths ..
do you think hardware synths would have occured ? meaning, do you think hardware like moogs, arps, junos, etc. would have been born ??? in fact still supposing that software synths had come first, do you think that being confronted latter to such hardware as a moog or virus, etc. YOU would have bee...
