Re: Why can't anyone release a small VA with analog filters ?

Physical Modelling uses basically the same process as VA, right? If so, the credit should go to the Yamaha VL-1. If memory serves, the Korg Prophecy and the Nord Lead came out one year later. And the Korg Drum or how was it called. Crazy machine, incredible sound. You don´t see that too often, I won...

Re: What Synth Parts Would You Like to See Back in Production?

And speaking of the 741, there must be millions out there, but it´s very unlikely you´ll find these in forthcoming analogs. It´s a bit of a shame if one of the modern synth manufacturer´s goals would be to replicate the vintage sound, as I think this humble IC is a key element. I recorded a comparis...

Re: What Synth Parts Would You Like to See Back in Production?

Anti-sticker surfaces  This is a good thread. The uA726 datasheet can be downloaded for free at alldatasheet dot com. Someone on Ebay is asking an outrageous price for one. The chip, that is. Must be a mistake, even if it´s genuine NOS. From my experience, it´s best to search the local markets...

A very interesting read indeed!
Fascinating. I read it all! Thanks Micke.

Re: 80's synth pics

To me this is the best 80s ad. Used to appear on the back cover of Electronics & Musicmaker magazine. Love the "medical equipment" look.

You´re right. This nice sounding filter can also be found in the Mono/Poly, Trident, Fairlight CMI IIx, PPG Wave 2.2 and 2.3, some Crumar/Chase Bit and Siel polysynths plus a few others, I´m sure.

Re: SSM Juno 2044

I'm thinking that it might be better to just keep the CEM3320s though, since the surrounding topology is no doubt tuned for the "Oberheim" sound using that specific filter. In your case it was a pretty cool idea to use the SSM2044 since you were starting from scratch (no pre-existing daughterboards...

Re: What Synths Did Cluster and Harmonia Use?

Most of the Krautrock bands and the earlier Eno solo albums were recorded at Conny Plank´s studio. Looks like he was in a good part responsible for the innovative sound of those artists. There is a thread about the gear used by Manuel Göttsching, with some useful links.

Re: Brian Eno: An Ending - Celestial Choir Source?

If there´s a demo available I´ll check that. I used the H3000 or the H3500, something like that, in studio where I worked. I remember we were recording a girl that had a beautiful voice, so after the session we sampled the tapes and played with the time-stretching and I made her sound like Sheila Ch...

Re: SSM Juno 2044

Hi. This morning I had only 5 minutes to reply so I didn´t use the correct words. By "without damaging the synth" I meant not doing intrusive modifications to the existing circuit. I think it´s a safe bet to substitute the 3320 with the 2044. I don´t know your background, but you must already know t...

Re: SSM Juno 2044

Thank you.
Those daughterboards were a mod by JL Cooper, right? I think it´s possible, without damaging the synth. I had a look at the CEM filter before. I´ll see it later.

SSM Juno 2044

I just finished protyping the final version ( Juno 106 with SSM2044 filters). Listen to the soundfile. What do you guys think? If someone handy with ExpressPCB wouldn´t mind drawing the schematics for me, I´d appreciate.
