Re: Brian Eno: An Ending - Celestial Choir Source?
Always sounded like a high resonant analog sound to me. I think I can hear the filter drifting at times. CS-80? The Wikipedia says "a DX7 was used extensively". Has to be a mistake. The album and the DX came out in the same year, but the instrument was very difficult to master and program such a wel...

Re: Analog delay?
Search the Stereophile online archives. There´s a fine article from J. Gordon Holt regarding nearfield monitoring vs. room reflexions. It´ll provide you some insight. Verify the frequency you want to mess with and consider wavelengths: a 20Hz full cycle is about 17 metres long ; a 40Hz travels half ...

Re: Interesting Casio SK-1 "Accident"
Probably was something from the forum as the cursor wasn´t moving. I can hear it now. That´s some groovy loop.
Thanks for sharing.

"The Shout" (or was it "The Scream"?) - peculiar British thriller with Oliver Reed, John Hurt and Susannah York (soundtrack mostly by Tony Banks with Mike Rutherford thrown in for good measure). Hurt's character is a struggling composer with all sorts of electronic goodies in his workroom including...

Re: Interesting Casio SK-1 "Accident"
The sound is not working for some reason, but one thing I used to do to my SK-1 was sampling a sound, looping, pressing a key and hitting "loop" twice the fastest I could.

Re: What is Your Favourite Analog OSC Waveform and Why?
The 303's square wave... which in fact is a sawtooth wave flipped upside down during every other cycle, to give that distinct hollow sound, making it unique from regular square waves. That´s why these square waves looked to me like clipped sines or at least triangles. :) The EMS Synthi A also lets ...

Re: What is Your Favourite Analog OSC Waveform and Why?
And it seems not all waveforms are generated equal. In my Rogue I think the pulse ones originate from clipped sines, and they´re like in figure B: If that's true, I'd be really surprised. Much more complex curcuit to derive a sine wave and then clip it. Moog type VCOs are generally 'sawtooth core' ...

Re: What is Your Favourite Analog OSC Waveform and Why?
While studying the Juno 6 schematics, I just noticed VR37 labeled (sawtooth) width. This variable resistor seems common to all 6 voices! Anyone familiar with the Poly 800´s mods might find that interesting. At least maybe you could step over the calibration procedure and just tweak the waveform so t...

Re: What is Your Favourite Analog OSC Waveform and Why?
Sawtooth-Triangular. :) Good one AG :) .... can you have a PWM'd sawtooth?.... I don't see any reason why not? I had wondered about this. The hardware synths that I currently know of doing such are the Alpha Junos. I think the waveshaping part is analog. On a side-note, I read something from Bob Mo...

Re: What is Your Favourite Analog OSC Waveform and Why?
Sawtooth has more harmonics but in a poorly featured non-modular such as the SH-101 it can get boring to have just the filter to change the tone. Rather static compared to PW, which lets you choose the shape of the waveform. And it seems not all waveforms are generated equal. In my Rogue I think the...

Re: Rarest Synths
Oops. It´s Synx, not Syrinx! Here it is. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/127/367098766_65d3bcaf4e.jpg Came out soon after the Polysix. I heard it and it´s polyphonic. Now, judging by the numbers should be either 5 or 8-note poly, who knows... The Jen Syntar is a guitar synth module like the ARP Avata...

Re: Rarest Synths
Jen (Jennings) synthesizers and organs are very rare and fat I saw a Syrinx at a store once. Six voice poly, reminds of the Siel Opera 6. And a friend of mine has a (Jen) Syntar, a guitar synth module. These two aren´t even in the VSE database. More rare synths: The Voyetra Eight Yamaha DX5 EMS Pol...
