Re: hard shell cases for roland sh101 & Yamaha CS5
i've had good luck with Island Cases.
Not like $400 ATA cases, but good workmanship, and custom sizes.

Re: Best synth ever!
never warmed up to it, but over the years i'd have to vote for the M1 as the 'best and most complete'.
complete: synth, sequencer, effects
best?: sold like 100.000 units

Re: Peculiar samples
sold the Mirage and all the disks long ago...sorry i did.
basicly, the parrot was the attack, followed by the "a-doodle-do" rooster sound. the bagpipe was a single chanter note with a pronounced 'fall-off' at the end. trimmed, combined and slowed they gave a good "AAAWWWWHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" .

Re: Yamaha 'Keyboard'
for $200, it's a steal !!! While the ROM=tones are ok, the meat is the pumped-up 6-op FM side. more algorithms, THREE feed-back loops, and though you can layer a rompler tone with the FM, the big thing is you can modulate the FM section with the ROM sounds. PLUS there are two resonant filters for ea...

Re: ARP multisynths: Quartet vs Omni II
I've got a Quartet in the shop right now. Pretty good strings , poor brass, lousy piano. Organ is a fair pipeorgan tone but no B3 sounds. I've kicked it up some with a brass resonance knob, and an octive-down switch. Also i've put on seperate outs for brass, organ, and piano so you can do some effec...

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say about synths
clueless music-store employees merit their own thread-of-infamy.
years ago was looking at a Roland D-110 module...
MM (music moron): " This Roland has NINE PARTS! (points to manual) Each part is JUST LIKE AN OPERATOR on the DX-7 ! Only you get THREE MORE!!"
