Re: Casio CZ 1 very unusual crackling at boot!
Small plastic box - about 3/4 x 1/2 x 1/4 inches. Six or eight pins on the bottom soldered to the jack board. Left rear of inside of the synth. NOTE: This is NOT the actual part: Just an illustration from a catalogue. BAD NEWS: As I understand it, this relay is no longer available. Many others will ...

Re: Oberheim OB 12 Question
Welcome to the board!
Your question is much like "I bought a car, now how do I go places in it?"
Read the manual. Repeat until you understand most of it. Then experiment to your heart's content.

Re: Alesis QS6.2 tuning issues
"...how do I do a reset?"
Make sure the mod wheel in fully down and the pitch bend wheel in centered - I know it's spring-loaded, but it can stick.
With power OFF, hold down buttons "0" and "3" while powering ON.

Re: Casio CZ 1 very unusual crackling at boot!
The CZ-1 (alone, I think) has a small relay in the output line that mutes the audio at powerup. They get dirty, dusty, worn out, etc. IIRC, it is on the jack board. Look and see if it has a removable cover. If so, open it and give it a shot of compressed air, then some cleaner.

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread
Just completed a great sale to Christopher Winkels. Perfect buyer!! Stuck with me thru what has to be the mother-of-all UPS screwups! Mindless bureaucracy at it's worst. Lied about delivery attempt, refused to re-direct to business address, then LOST a coffin-sized box!!! (Korg DSS-1 packed in thick...

new LCD display for Roland JX-305
Joined the Yahoo JX-305 group to post this, but everything is $#%&* SPAM. If anyone here is interested, pm me for details. ---------------------------------------------------------- Basic premis: EDIT: Seems this only works on the model with the BLACK data wheel. Display mod still works, but you'll ...

Welcome to the board! Page 29 Fine Tuning: Press {EDIT] {GLOBAL] Page 2 PARM: Master Tune -99 to +99 Programming from the buttons is a real pain. Get a software editor and dig into what these boards can do! Yeah, real knobs would be nice, but you can still get analog-style richness - with work. PS. ...

Re: Old man screws up - BAD.
Well, not my fault after all!
Small problem with one of the two memory RAMs - see picture.
The broken pin must have been making contact until I torqued the board around to change the battery.

Re: Cleaning paint off a Crumar Performer
If you cas handle international shipping, you might send the panel to Synthspa.com here in the USA. He makes printed vinyl sheets that press on over the sanded and primed metal. I'm having him do a Juno-60 soon, but can only state that the pictures on his website look GREAT! And MUCH cheaper that Cu...

Re: Cleaning paint off a Crumar Performer
Since you're in the UK, contact CustomSynths. THEY ARE NOT CHEAP, but their work is incredible. They can restore the paint and silk-screening to perfection.

Welcome to the board! The Nord Stage and the Roland VR-09 (sic) might be too much for your budget, I could suggest the Alesis QS6,7 or 8. http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/qs71.php They are ROMpler, but have a ton of great samples (there is a VintageKeys card available too). Good key-feel. A lot of m...

Re: Old man screws up - BAD.
No explosion. The blocking diode did it's job.
I think I'll replace the two 4000-series ICs that provide the CE and WR signals.
I'll p'bly need to take you up on the SRAMs soon.

Old man screws up - BAD.
I COULD lie and say I bought this synth like this, bu tI'll confess: Had a Juno-60 working pretty good (several 4000-series chips bad). Then I changed the memory battery ------and soldered the damn thing in BACKWARDS. Now, it will not store patches: Memory location retain the same c**p they had befo...

Re: EPS Worth Resurrection?
Since you have a large sample library, I'd keep it. If you decide to trash it, at least try and find a school, etc. that could make use of it. Some young person might welcome the old girl with open arms and open mind.
