Re: [SOLVED] Touchpad Teisco s60f
(blush...) Awww shucks! The FSRs WOULD have been my first choice for a new project, but out of respect for a vintage and somewhat rare synth I tried to think of something that would be minimaly "invasive". A compormise might be to make a new PC board for the bender and mount the FSRs on it and save ...

Re: Korg Monotron 6? Huh?!?
Wistful thinking:
Maybe someday they will have software where you design it in Photoshop and the computer will model it as a virtual synth. Don't like it? Hit Delete!
EDIT: I guess Nord Modular comes close for right now.

Re: Touchpad Teisco s60f
Too long ago. By VCR tape, I mean the magnetic tape used in VCR cassettes - long before DVD disks!! It's about 1/2 " wide. the iron oxide on the "working" side is conductive - somewhat. Here's one source of foam: http://www.petmountain.com/product/aquarium-filter-pads/11442-503807/hbh-pet-products-c...

Re: Touchpad Teisco s60f
EDIT2: "from Dishing-gloves to mousepads and neopren wetsuits "... To the best of my knowlege, none of these are conductive. The idea is to press something semi-conductive down onto the carbon(?) pads on the PC board thus connecting the longer common pad to one or the other shorter pads. Weird possi...

Re: Synth Identification
Welcome to the board! No implication that you are stupid intended.... You do understand that the mini, Source and Phatty are ALL MONOPHONIC - that is you can only play ONE note at a time. Nothing like the sound in the clip. I suggest you look into an Alesis Micron or Korg MicroKorg. They are both go...

Re: Juno-60 shuts off upon pushing "Save" for patch storage
No expert here. 1) Do the BANK-3 and Patch-3 buttons seem to work? If so that rules out the strobe line. 2) Try pressing SAVE with the ARP MODE switch set to UP/DOWN. Any change? This isolates that scan line from the arp. circuits. 3) Maybe some strange defect in the SAVE button : a broken piece tou...

Re: esq-1 issue
Yeah, well... Two years is about my memory span.
Changing OS chips is no problem:
1-watch for bent pins
2- Don't mix the HI and LO chips
Worked on many ESQ-1s... never found one with OS chips soldered in.

Re: Question about vintage synths
The VCO, VFC, and VCA WOULD be analog op-amps. The response would be controled by shunting in and out different resistance and capacitance values inside the chip. The CV response could be shaped by digital circuits. Besides, beggars can't be choosers. When working vintage chips start going for $1200...

Re: Question about vintage synths
My hope - at least for coming generations - will be that some manufacture brings out two products: 1) a CPU chip with flash ram for programing, and enought flexibility to emulate the old 8-bit 8000 series chips. An onboard PLA would route the correct signals to the correct pins. This would b e a dro...

Re: esq-1 issue
Welcome to the board! The fact that buttons cause characters to appear on the screen means the display has gone into "self-test mode". Generaly means that the serial connection between the mainboard, keyboaard and display has been lost. First thing is to unplug and clean the cable connectors on the ...

Re: Unreadable LCD screens
I'm just fishing for any sort of solutions you guys have come up with. Has anyone gone as far as removing the screen and building some sort of tilt contraption? I've even put some thought into refracting mirrors....I can't be alone on this! Cheers! In the old (read:ancient) news-letter the "Transon...

Re: help! need to leard how to creat/obtain similar sounds
Welcome to the board! This kind of question comes up often. If you're in a hurry to cover a tune, we're glad to help. But...you need to get a handle on the basics of synth programing so you can recognize the elements that make up a sound...and apply them to YOUR synths. 1) Hign alien voice: Sounds l...
