Re: Fizmo- midi input makes playback sound messed up
Is your sequencer playing back some midi data (CC, mod, patchchange, etc.) that the Fiz dosen't like? Try filtering out everything but note data.

Re: Fizmo- midi input makes playback sound messed up
First guess: You have a MIDI loop going on. That is, the MIDI OUT from the Fizmo is somehow getting back to the MIDI IN.

Re: When is it okay to scrap a synth for parts?
I hear you. My situation is a little different: My jollies came from repairing a basket-case, making a profit is not a big thing. I feel good if I can recoup 80-90% of what I have in a synth. I guess in answer - It would have much to do with rarity: I have scrapped many ESQ-1s to fix others, but nev...

Re: Roland MKS-30 "skip" notes
Welcome to the board! Turn the synth off, then on. Play one note at a time in a scale (any). Keep track of the dead notes. If it skips one out of six, you have a dead voice. Since you hear neither oscillator, the fault is likely in the filter. The filter chips are quite robust for the era, so I'd st...

Re: Evil Poly Pad Machine
Suggestions:
1) Roland JD-800. Exciter can give a screeching high-end, and the reverb is jangley and metalic.
2) Casio VZ-1. Hell-gone-to-Hell to program, but tones you'd never hear without putting a DX-7 thru a wood chipper.

Re: What kind of Potentiometer is this?
... because it might not even matter if I have a short throw pot installed, my reasoning being that the pot's mechanical range seems to exceed the range of the wheel attatched to the pot stem, I could be wrong though. That's the problem: If you replace with a "normal" 270-degree pot, the full range...

Re: What kind of Potentiometer is this?
Yeah, those are a bear to find. If it;s a DX-21, give Yamaha a call...you may get lucky. If you're up to some machine work, you might get one from a Korg DW-6000 or -8000 to fit. Best bet is to watch Ebay. The ONLY source of short-throw CT pots (+/- 25 degrees motion) is here: http://www.4qd.co.uk/a...

This is a realy good place to get disks:
http://floppydisk.com/
I THINK the TS series will take either DSDD or DSHD floppies. Let me check.

Re: please help for circuit design of micro r2d2 synthesiser
OK. Here's a simple idea: Rig a 16-pole rotary switch and drive it from the bike wheel - you'd need a gear-down system to keep it slower. Hook the 16 poles to the wires from the cells and the moving contact to a simple voltage controled oscillator - like may be a 555 timer IC. A small amp and speake...

Re: please help for circuit design of micro r2d2 synthesiser
Welcome to the board! I'm sorry, but I don't understand exactly what you need. Is this circuit for: 1) making music? 2) monitoring the condition of each cell? 3) making sound effects? It seems like you want #2 - so a person could check the voltage of each of the 16 cells. Do you need sound for this?

Re: ENSONIQ TS10 & TS12 users
To save and load sounds/samples/sequences to a computer you will need these: 1) an older PC running Windows 98 2) a working floppy drive in the computer - NOT A USB ADD-ON DRIVE !!!! 3) Software from http://www.giebler.com/ called "EDM" This synth is one of the all-time greats! All information is in...
