Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

korg M1 + case + synth1 cards = £60 (hated it - parted it out for way more)
Juno 6 also £60 - back in 1993 before they got cool again.

they are the cheapest technically but by no means the BEST value I've bought.

oh just remembered I bagged a spare SY77 for £20 but needed some work

Re: Bottom Ten Worst Synths of All Time

I really didn't like the M1... when I had one 20 years past it's sell by date (perhaps why)

Can't list ten as I like nearly all synths in some way or another.

btw my crumar performer is lovely... stop the hating. Nothing does early Duran Duran chorus pad sounds like that. :D

Re: JX-3P VS Polysix

Can't recall on the midi+pg at same time sans organix/kiwi mod but I don't think so? I have the organix mod and it's allowed me to get rid of my PG-200 and use a novation remote zero which is actually MUCH nicer to use - smooth easy knobs and full LCD readout of parameters - sure it doesn't look as ...

Re: Any Known Bands that used the Korg Poly 61?

^^ What he said. I've just started listening to it as well and I'm really enjoying it. Among other things, it's a damn nice endorsement of a Poly 61! OT: Yeah, if any of you have an Android phone, I'd highly recommend subscribing to Google Play Music. It basically gives you access to every album ev...

Re: JX-3P VS Polysix

Some of the Juno vibe/filter but with Dual Oscs and unique sounds. 8P/10 are completely different. The tone around 50 seconds is really nice. And for a synth with software envs it doesn't do too badly.

Re: JD-800 vs V-Synth

a little update on my lovely 'dilemma' for anyone remotely curious... V-Synth is definitely the overall 'winner' to me, I would be insane to let that go to keep the JD-800. However, I LOVE the JD-800 so - yes am keeping both for the foreseeable future and believe they can co-exist usefully and beaut...

That would be so awesome, I'd cry. V-Synth is the best synth ever
It so is, and I've tried a lot of the classics - brilliant machine :D

Re: DX 21 vs CZ 1000

Replace with CZ-1 Of course!!!!!!! it's a great synth much better than (esp) DX21 and (a bit) CZ1000 :)

The velocity and extra poly etc make the CZ-1 the best of the CZs by far. Rare though!!

V-synth *IS* Roland's best synth all things considered.

Would still love a Jupiter 8 though.

Re: Size doesn't matter... or does it?

smaller setup. 2-4 synths max. for clarity and productivity. Have had massive setups before (15+ keyboard synths all set up at once   ) felt like a kid in a sweet shop and was using sounds from synths just because they were there.. was in serious danger of floating away in a sea of my own ...

Re: Name some underrated/hated synths that you like

Heh. Juno 106. Maybe not hated so much as always shunted aside by the "ermehgerd the Juno 6 and 60 are FAR superiuh to the 106" crowd. Sure, I know all about the reliability factor and all, but acetone restores chips AND there are good chip clones out there to keep these synths alive. It's no sweat...

Re: JD-800 vs V-Synth

Just got a VC-1 card for my V-Synth, it's great. I prefer it to my actual D-50 because of a more hands on feel to editing and 'live updates' to filter changes. The ability to clean it up a little is good too (even though the D-50 mode itself already sounds cleaner than my D-50 so i leave it in that ...
