Re: D-50 + PG1000 vs JD-800

gah, just wish it wasnt such a pig to edit things. it literally just sits there since i bought it, after about 20 seconds of squinting at the microscopic LCD screen trying to figure out whats what i just move over to the CS-15 and start merrily twiddling away :( D-50? Man it's really not that hard ...

Re: The Best Jx-*p

really although both synths can do some similar sounds, they sound totally different. That is the 3P sounds completely different to the later JXs. I've made patches on both side by side and emulated some of the 3P on the 8P and it was close, but only for certain sounds. You take either synth into it...

forget it... I got my JD now - and I agree with everyone. It's an amazing synth.

Re: The Best Jx-*p

Have owned JX-3p and JX-8P. To me the 3P is so much more vital and exciting to use. The 8P has poor filters regardless of it's extra features, and a realy dated (not in a nice way) tone. The 3P sounds fresh and vibrant but vintage. It sounds like a 'real' analog versus the 8P's more digital flavour....

sy77 too! very deep synth can do ambience and creepy very well (can do most things well - extremely flexible synth)

Re: D-50 + PG-1000 vs. JD-800

Yes that's what I meant. In 'comparison to the D-50 it LACKS LFOS' (one) not that it has no LFOS. :) edit: of course in total it does have 8 not 6 (2 per layer) so it's swings and roundabouts. Sorry about the editing and switch around but I have at least no problem making myself look a fool by corre...

Re: D-50 + PG-1000 vs. JD-800

get both

And no, the D-50 is NOT more flexible. The JD is due to the filter and sound differences. Can do a lot of stuff with it. Replaces 3 synths in one for me

Re: Roland JX-3P & PG-200 vs. Akai AX73

JX-3P even without PG. Kills the Akai. BTW in the UK 3Ps on their own in good condition can go around £200-£250 - sometimes cheap as £150 if needing work or scruffy. The PG-200s go from around £200 - £250 (as much and often more than the synth) so overall £400-£500 - in dollars that's over $700 so t...

Re: Roland D-50/D-550 vs roland D-10/110

Back on topic, the D-10/20/110 & MT-32 sound incredibly thin next to the D-50, but not entirely useless. The D-10 and D-20 have 32-note polyphony as compared to 16 with the D-50, so you can layer more sounds together than with the D-50, but yeah, the D-50 has much better filters, etc. I have a soft...

Re: Korg DW8000 opinions please

I liked a lot of the sound my (now sold) DW-8000 put out, I thought the filters had something going on that appealed to me :) Analog filters and quite cutting/aggressive when pushed. The synth had some very nice features but wasn't in the greatest body, looked poorly designed esp sat next to a stunn...

Re: Roland D-10: would you keep it?

I agree with Stab, time= money. There've been a lot of threads recently on the lesser D series Rolands. Put simply, they're all c**p, none of them are the D-50. Not even a cut down D-50. The same patch on a D-110 and a D-50 sounds quite different because the D-50 has a yummy chorus and more genuine...
