Re: Roland D50 is it a classic or out of date?
True, I think most D-50 owners have loaded up the Jarre sounds at least once. I personally feel they don't show the D-50 in the best light however and play more into the hands of the d-50 naysayers. Hands down the best examples of why the D-50 is such a great synth are in the many non pcm 'analog-es...

Re: Which JX to complement Alpha Juno?
A 3P would be a pretty good compliment to an Alpha, it's much more aggressive sound is a nice contrast to the Alpha's politeness. And while I haven't played the AJ-2, the 3P's keyboard is MUCH nicer than the Juno-1's is. I know the 2 is supposed to have a better keyboard than the Juno-1, but still,...

Re: Alpha Juno Owners and the Decisions We Have to Make
I used my BCR2000 (knobs not faders) fine with my Alpha J2 before I smashed the J2 to bits to use it's keybed in my Polysix :) (ok sort of joking - the AJ2 had a terminal problem so was being parted out). I also hooked it up to the MKS-50 I think.... hmm didn't have the rack too long. ANYONE paying ...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?
I'm just worried because the Alpha Juno has a great keybed.... AJuno 2 yes - similar if not the same to the D-50. I liked it that much i retro fitted it to one of my Polysixes (which have awful keybeds as standard). I parted the J2 (and J1) out. I prefered the J2 to the MKS50 I had - really didn't ...

Re: JX-8P vs Juno 106
Neither - JX-3P ;) I enjoyed the 8P, but the 3P has more of the 'juno' sound and more besides. Less apparent features than the 8P but just sounds better imo. Better depends on what you like in your synths of course, in this case the 3P sounds less digital, 'more analog' and with quite a unique chara...

Re: Roland D50 is it a classic or out of date?
So that was 2 against... 20 or something. And 3 years later we can declare the D-50 a classic and a proper synthesizer with a unique sound. done. And also it most definitely is NOT just a rompler, and it most definitely has a VA implementation in struct mode 1/2 (NO PCM). Take these FACTS as g...

Re: Jp8000 vs blofeld
KS-Rack
if considering JP-8000 and wanting a keyboard get AN1x instead.
Sound wise I'd have to go with the blofeld but not that keen on it as an 'instrument' and not a fan of the interface.

Re: New JX-10 Pros/cons/tips?
had a jx-8p and still have a 3P - the 3P is my absolute FAVOURITE of the JXs by a mile - don't care about it having less features it sounds great, ANALOG synth great. The 8P (and 10) are nice for pads/strings but verge towards very warm digital sounding. For MY money (and only mine) i prefer the D-5...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50
Still got my SY and D. The '77 sees more use atm. :) The KS-Rack has taken over a bit from the D-50!! edit > Not implying the KSrack sounds like or does what the D-50 does. D-50 is pretty unique - just that I was using it in place of where i'd use D-50 recently. Having said that, nothing replaces D-...

Re: an ax80 for a jx3p with programmer
I had an AX80 and Have a JX-3P (with mod using a BCR midi box for hands on programming). I prefer the JX-3P over the AX80 personally. AX80 value is around the same as a JX-3p WITH PG-200 combo value imo. (cheap: £300 High: £450). I sold my AX80 for more than a 3P/PG combo, but that's just the deman...

Congrats, nice synth. Had the DW-8000 and would have kept it if I wasn't streamlining for sanity. Good filter.

Re: Poly-800 vs. Roland D-50
not a huge fan of the D50 here, couldn't you pick up a Wavestation for about the same money? D-50 BIG TIME! have a D-50 (second one I bought!) and had a wavestation, the station looks cool on paper but is so dry, yes it 'evolves' and is very clever blah blah but it doesn't have much personality and...

Re: Software Time: Omnisphere?
Random question: Has anyone used Cubase? I've been wondering about trying that.. I used to use it, I found it to be inferior in almost every way compared to the other major DAWs. I imagine it's been improved somewhat since then, but I still have no interest in going back even to check it out. ?? Cu...

Re: Interesting interview with Harold Faltermeyer
The Fletch theme is pretty darn cool though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjU_okxTsKM Not disputing that it's a decent piece of music, just that in my opinion it gives the movie the wrong tone. I love most of Chevy's comedies and feel the soundtrack in this actually worked against it. On it's own...
