Any idea how this would work on a Super JX-10?
JX-10 prob wouldn't be plug and play (like the 8P) as it has a very strange/clunky midi implementation. If you do the 'firmware upgrade' (JX-10) it may then work (?)

Re: Yamaha - enemies of synthsis!
AN1x, SY77... 2 reasons I don't think Yamaha are an enemy to synthesis - these 2 being deeper than most other synths I own and sounding fkin great with it

I love the JX-3P so I would advise you keep that (over an Alpha Juno). Such a characterful sound and different to other 'meatier' synths. Very retro.

Join the SY77 yahoo groups - LOTS of patches there in the files section - or use google. I've got hundreds of SY77 banks in disc and sysx format.

Re: Ensoniq SQ-80 vs Roland D50
and it's not just a classic cos of it's presets I beg to differ...i think it's definitely a classic because of the presets (especially considering that several of those presets have been incorporated into the general midi standard). Roland generally has more playable preset patches in their gear th...

Re: Alpha Juno 2 vs. Polysix (which one should I take home?)
Are you talking about the 'top side' of the rubber contacts (the hole that is pressed by the key rather than the 'hole' underneath with the carbon contact on? I'd assume so but it wasn't clear - some may read it as 'fill it on the underside'. If you did mean 'fill on the underside' I take it the stu...

Re: SY-77 vs DX-7IIFD
No it's 'fame' is nowhere near that of the DX7, D-50, M1, Minimoog, Jupiter 8 etc... as much as we know how good the SY77 is it's hardly a legendary synth is it? Even if used on famous songs by famous people. Still If it is a classic by consensous then I'm all for it as I can add it to the D-50 and...

Re: Success Story: PolySix MIDI Retrofit
If you can think of another reason to MIDIfy an analog synth, let me know. :) It isn't for recording... it's just as easy to multitrack these days as sequence. In case you missed it in my long post. Another reason is so you can use any other keyboard to control the analog, which could often have de...

Re: analog velocity sensitive synth?
You said you need 8 note poly minimum? Forget JX-8P (only six note poly) it also doesn't have 'fat analog sounds' in the sense you mean.

Re: Which synthesizer(s) do you regret getting or selling
Regret buying: None (because even if I don't like them I ALWAYS make a profit on them come resale time)
Regret Selling: None (because I have better synths than the ones I sold - Juno 6 would have been nice to keep but would still prefer a 60, not that bothered now I have a polysix though)

Re: Success Story: PolySix MIDI Retrofit
NO really it's no reflection on my ability to be able to play 'in time' (I'm actually very good and have great timing - on Keyboards, Guitar and Bass). It's to do with being a 'producer' vs just a keyboard player. If you want to be a synth god and hone your licks and feel good that it was all done '...
