Re: Yamaha DX7 for Juno 106?
A very good trade *IF* the 106 is fully working OR has been fixed.. though I'm not sure how well the fixes last (Fixed 106 owners will let you know that). But yes a 'normal' DX7 of any kind (inc IIFD) in a straight swap for a Juno 6/60/106 is a GOOD deal (if you want to trade FM for DCO Analog), if ...

Re: JX-8P v Juno-60
JX-3P probably sounds a bit more like a Juno 6/60 than the JX-8P does (Same filter) but again different (even to the JX-8P). 3P is by far my favourite from the Juno6/JX-8P/JX-3P that I have owned but 8P is still a very 'warm' and interesting synth to use. There's a twist to this. The JX-3P and Juno...

Re: Staying with Roland jx8p or upgrading to Roland jx-10 ????
About the fact 8P sounds warmer it's a legend. To say it's a legend without disproving it is in itself a legend. As as I said above quite a minor point anyway, it's like saying a dx7 has a cleaner output to a moog or something. It was just a point by point difference highlighting for the original p...

Re: Staying with Roland jx8p or upgrading to Roland jx-10 ????
I've also heard accounts of the JX10 not sounding quite the same as an 8P (in single voice mode of course, maybe cleaner but less warm?) Which is totally subjective, not scientific, and plain wrong. A JX 10 actually has two JX8P boards inside. Yeah with different 'cleaner' op-amps on the outputs wh...

Re: Do your synth desires ever get the better of you?
I can't resist a bargain. And with the price of s/h synths compared to what they were in the 90s, you can go soon acquire a shit-ton of gear for what would have bought one item back then. The more you get though, the more of a headache you have with the logistics of accommodating it and connecting ...

Re: Staying with Roland jx8p or upgrading to Roland jx-10 ????
If I hadn't got a JX-8P then I'd snap up the JX-10. It comes down to how much extra you will spend to get the 10 AND if you really want it's layering and extra keys. I think the SuperJX looks pretty sexy (and Nick Rhodes had one which for me at least is a bonus ;) ) However I really like the 8P and ...

Re: Cheap Lead Synth/Controller?
Yeah AN1x fits all your criteria except 'great piano sound' it's not a rompler and it's not accoustic instrument orientated... but as someone said if your main need is a good piano you will look at a rompler. In that price range a piano sound isn't going to be amazing (I think) unless you go second ...

Re: JX-3P (midi expansion mod) + JX-8P with BCR2000
Yes i REALLY like the BCR.. it's almost become an instrument in it's own right when I'm twiddling knobs on it all night... quite 'organic' and because it's just one box to control many makes for less space wasted and less headaches. I don't mind the looks that much, it's a bit over-chunky - but I pl...

Re: New Roland Juno-Di
I normally ignore these modern synths esp the ones using the 'classic' names. However that vid did actually look good. It has a few nice features and would appeal to many 'new' buyers (I mean those who buy new cheaper synths). I would like to spend an evening with one and give it the benifit of the ...

Re: JX-3P (midi expansion mod) + JX-8P with BCR2000
Awesome, thanks for the pictures. I'm going to look for a BCR now :). I got 2 cheap (2nd hand) because they had USB probs (missing jack or.. just not working right) but the MIDI on them is pretty robust and all you need for this. USB is good for soft synth control etc but even then I can still use ...

Re: JX-3P (midi expansion mod) + JX-8P with BCR2000
original post: an update to my previous pics (i'm always moving around and swapping synths over). Recently installed the mod-chip/upgrade from inque to allow the JX-3P to work with 'any' midi controller (i think 1 bit resolution less but it's still rocking!). So It made sense to set this stack up -...

JX-3P (midi expansion mod) + JX-8P with BCR2000
I thought I would start this thread to stop the 'post pics of your gear' going off topic. As someone asked about the mod it made sense to put it in it's own thread (With more pictures). an update to my previous pics (i'm always moving around and swapping synths over). Recently installed the mod-chip...
