Re: Dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say about synths

what I meant with the :^o is that maybe the guy instead being stupid he was trying to grab you from the hair with that phrase full of synth cliches that at the end doesn't mean anything.... it sounded like a bad lie.

Re: Evolve or stick to it

I don't know if that' s a lie, that VANGELIS said that he never joined YES because he is anti-group conpcet, a band is a label, and it doesn't allow to evolve into new forms or concepts IMO, changing the sound is having balls. Fck the old fans Depeche Mode. 30 years. They are around 50ies. Do they s...

Re: Let's talk about strings, baby

Interesting to hear that you were using the v synth for strings. It can make good ones but it's not its best achievement. For me, string pads are the most beatiful sounds on earth. I ve tried so much ways to produce beatiful melodic pads. I love to start my tracks with a good pad intro, that develop...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

Absolutely agree with the variety. I remember Ebay 2002. So much variety on those days. Got a SP 808ex sampler, with ASCII, digital/optical inputs outputs, and a external CD burner for $200. Now the 50% of synths on Ebay are MICROKORG colourfull ads MICRON colorfull ads I have seen a small increase ...

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

Common argument for software over hardware: Software is cheaper.... easier to get. When I started to play hardware, my earnings were $200-300 per month. That's almost poverty. And I have never used software. As somebody said, if you have an unevitable musician inclination, you'll find a way to get y...

Re: 3rd Oscillators - What's Your Favorite Use?

I use it as any other oscillator, depending of parameter options, but honestly I don't give any special use to it. If it sounds good, I keep it like that. Is good sometimes to create chords, or sub, or to ring it to produce tone variations, subs , transponse -12. Generally it comes to improve the co...

Re: Computerless live rig

In a similar vein, what does everyone use for samplers when going computerless? What???? instead computers, we use hardware samplers. Hardware samplers are not a thing from the past. In this live setup, I'm using three hardware samplers and a sequencer XL7. Audio sucks, this is for video il...

Re: New Roland Groovebox?

I had all the series once. FRom the D2 to the 909, all of them.

I would get the new model, if it does not come again with a big piece of cheese inside, instead a synthesis engine.

Re: Restructuring my setup

The Fusion is a super workstation. Ask Shreddie about it.

I now it has several types of synthesis, and it's one of the sampling workstations that can hold a huge amount of samples.

I would love to get one myself

Re: sequencers with different length options

command station: You can have from 1 to 32 measures length. Even better, you can increase-decrease such measures while playing. Nice for changes-bridges, pitch progressions. Yon can have a 32 lenght pattern, and store it as a 4 measures if you want. Make it loop those 4 measures once, and then, go t...

Re: Computerless live rig

you should use a MPC with two MIDI outs or a EMU command station. Yamaha RS7000 as a main brain sequencer is also a good option. Both are plenty of satisfactory functions to be make them able to control several machines on a live act, without having to use a computer. Centrlaize the sequences on any...
