Re: E-MU XK-6 ::: have u ever pwned one ?

'Ve read a couple of texts on the Web but still want to ask here; What kind of gear is this, what does it sound like, is it worth 500$ ? How does it look compared to the other colorful plastic EMUs I also have no idea about? When I think of these EMUs, Ensoniq Fizmo also gets in my mind. It does no...

Re: Expandable drum machines?

Pads are VELO sensitive and high quality. There are several velocity curve settings (linear, soft, hard, etc). It also has Poly and Control After Touch detailed programming. command stations are customizable, it´s one of their main characteristics. Their are simple superb for ethnic percussions, EMU...

Re: Expandable drum machines?

Electribe ESX-1 can work as a drum machine very well, it accepts AIFF and WAV sounds. Disadvantage, is that it has short memory for samples (280 secs), monophonic tracks and limited polyphony, besides, you can have a max of 256 mono and 128 stereo samples. But if you have skills manipulating samples...

Re: Current standing of the Yamaha EX-5???

EX5 actually is the best digital workstation of all times  sarcasm or you are serious? The fact of having several engines to make sounds does not makes the EX5 the best workstation of all times. It has so much features, that you can´t make plenty use of them, it has a absurd user interface ful...

Re: best method for making a performance set with grooveboxe

There are no rules on this field. That´s what makes it so interesting, and time consuming. What do you mean with "grooveboxes"? Synths with no keyboard, desktop, that have onboard sequencing? I have always used only hardware synths for live performances, with no computer or mixer on the setup. One o...

Re: waldorf racks...

The Micro Q is huge cut down of the Q, that´s quite obvious taking a look at them. Controllers are also part of the "sound" of a synth. And also the difference on the price is absurd. The complete version of the keyboard is f**k expensive.... You can get almost the same sound on the MicroQ, but mayb...

Re: roland sh-32 or jp-8080

I've got the jp8000 right now - the sound is a little weak and limited (a little external FX/processing can help this) - but, the interface is great for having fun and designing/sculpting sounds. Have to agree that JP-8000 is a little limited. Easiest for programming I have used for so far, way eas...

Re: Current standing of the Yamaha EX-5???

for $500 is a great adquisition. EX5 has far more features than the motif, Actually, EX5 was not the precursor for the Motif series, but an intend from Yamaha to put all their synthesis technologies on a single synth. The result. A huge system of digital synthesis technologies under a TERRIBLE Opera...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

Is not so hard to dig a synth, any owner can make nice things with a synth if shows curiosity and enthusiasm for them. I still wanting a RS7000, I would love to have one... Actually, one of the command station´s main function is to control other synths, that´s where its name came from.... Is conceiv...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

Nope... I still programming everything directly on the synth. I hate that screen and the f**k cursor navigator. Is not enough for manipulating so much features. Programming a complex sounds can take hours. The factory assigned parameters for the knobs is rarely useful for tweaking sounds. You must p...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

How do you go about building your own patch with the emu? Do you start with a preset that sounds generally like what you wish to make? How can you start with the PCM waverform and build you way up. I did not see this in the manual... Most of the factory presets have only one or two layers/instrumen...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

Prodatum? no I haven´t use it, tried once and it had too much bugs for my taste, but I think there are new versions. There are around 72 Sources, and 68 destinations on the modulation matrix of the command stations. Almost any paramater can be reprogrammed to your willing. When you learn how to use ...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

One thing I noticed about the command station is that sounds are quite a bit softer than my other units...they just don't have the oomph that the other units have...which is ok in the studio, but over a PA it may need some compressor and eq. Very true. Something missing on the command station is at...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

f**k link is down, I have the file so you can pm if you want to upgrade. Creative Labs does not give support to any Proteus/Command Station owners (and they can be thousands) any longer. This is s**t, anyway they always were s**t in this area. BTW they stole $149 from my credit card for a faulty ROM...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

both are great instruments for live performance. One could be better than the other depending of how you are going to use it. I´ll focus more on the Emu since I know them better. I think the RS7000 has a better interface. But the EMu command station, has indeed a deeper engine. Advantages of the RS7...
