Throubleshooting Ensoniq's poly pressure keyboard
Hi all, I have a TS-10 with a dead keyboard issue, I managed to get it working partially by replacing the ribbon and by fixing some broken pcb traces , but it fails to calibrate and only a few of the first keys work. Synth engine works ok via midi. This keyboard amazes me , there are no contacts, bo...

Speaking of M1, you should never use isopropyl alcohol in order to clean it.
Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way...

Re: What is the worst thing that you have ever done to a syn
I dipped the Juno 60 white button caps into acetone for a few seconds hoping that it will take the yellowish off but instead they started to wrinkle... it took 2 days of sanding to get them back in operational condition.

Re: Korg MS-20 or Maxikorg 800DV?
Afcourse the dv800 has modulationpossibilities: lfo, repeat etc The ic's are simple discrete filled little prints, nothing fancy, nor epoxied Wonder where the info came from?? Two osc's, two sawsubosc's two forms if ringmod, two times hpf+lpf, 2 voices parellel , serial , with seperate repeat, 2 se...

Re: Korg MS-20 or Maxikorg 800DV?
thank you all for your input , I deeply appreciate it;) Also keep in mind, you can get "the" sound from a 700s, which is cheaper and more common. Hmm... thanks for this, I have not think of it. My main interest in synthesizers is making experimental sounds, I am not looking for that "'classic" vinta...

Re: Korg MS-20 or Maxikorg 800DV?
Thank you both for your replies. I have an MS20 and a friend offered me a trade with his Maxikorg. If I was asked this question 5 years ago, I would have gone with the MS20 , thats for sure. I love my Ms20 but as meatballfulton pointed out , i can get the mini anytime I want. I have never seen or pl...

Korg MS-20 or Maxikorg 800DV?
I need to make a decision and I dont want to regret it for the rest of my life.
If you had to choose one of these , which one would it be ? Please explain why.

Re: Cleaning the MS-20 panel
You can also put the knobs into warm soapy water and let them soak for a day.
Rusty nuts and washers can be cleaned the same way, by using wd40.
Good luck

Re: building first diy vco, advice on soldering kits
I think that any 25W soldering iron would do for this job, there is no need to buy anything expensive.
I believe that it is easier to start DIY with simpler circuits like mixers , filters and then advance to oscillators , sequencers etc
Electronics are great fun, good luck

Re: building first diy vco, advice on soldering kits
A VCO as a first DIY project ? Way to go ! Do you have any soldering experience ? For starting out, I would not recommend a station but a portable 25W soldering iron. I use a cheap Weller SPI-27C for over a decade now without any problems. http://uk.farnell.com/productimages/large/en_GB/42260386.jpg...

Re: Cleaning the MS-20 panel
I have used many times isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the panel of the MS 20, with excellent results. For best results I would recommend to remove all potentiometers and jacks and gently swipe the panel with a soft cloth using a few drops of isopropyl alcohol at a time, dont apply too much pressure ...

Analog delay can also be implemented by using bucket brigade devices (BBD).Percivale wrote:Does analogue delay equate to using tapes?

Re: Alpha Juno weird artifacts when playing chords?
Maybe the chords overall volume is too high and it overloads the amplifier or the chorus, causing weird artifacts. Did you try lowering the oscillators volume ? Does the filter affect this noise/ pop ? Edit: The alpha juno is 6 voice synth, so with chords you are probably maxing your polyphony and y...
