Re: Roland jp8000 firmware issue

I dont think that roland ever mentioned the changes/bugfixes in their 1.05 firmware update, it was just info about how to update and how to recalibrate pitch bend and ribbon. I remember that some troublesome midi interfaces or high sysex transmission rates could screw things up and brick your JP8000.

Re: Struggling to recreate a sound- anyone good at analysing

Sounds like waveform/timbre change over time, it could be a Korg Wavestation or any wavetable synth. I dont think that R3 is capable of producing such a complex tone, but I could be wrong. Maybe by layering several parts with different amplitude hold/attack/decay settings, you can get close. About s...

Re: TMS3631 divider chip info needed (how to program it?)

Sorry adamstan for hijacking your thread Hmm this is definitely strange... that was exactly what sounddoctorin had advised me to do, but to my surprise , although the keys looked identical, they would not pass through the rectangle holes at the back of the keybed that lock the keys and prevent them ...

Re: TMS3631 divider chip info needed (how to program it?)

Yes, you are right it was a TMS3615NS.
I had bought a faulty LP-10 for parts, hoping to find some MS/PS series compatible keys but unfortunately they did not match.
I ended up paying more money for the schematics than I payed for the LP-10 itself.

Re: TMS3631 divider chip info needed (how to program it?)

If my memory serves me correctly, there are a few TMS3616 inside the LP-10.

Re: Korg MS-20 (original) hiss/noise on output

Are you sure that pcbs, aluminum panel and metal case are all properly grounded ? Assuming that noise comes from both headphones and main outs, I second Sam's suggestion, you should firstly check if noise amplitude is properly set. As fellow dstrength have suggested in a previous thread : VR3 adjust...

Re: EPS16+ Powers up, all LEDS, no display

I have never opened up an eps16+, so I am afraid that I cant be of much help. Sounds like a power supply problem, are you getting the correct voltages ? if you dont have the eps16+ service manual, you can check out the eps / eps-m service manual, on page 6 you can find the power supply voltage check...

Re: Korg MS series and Yamaha CS series Trigger compatibilit

Interesting blog you have there, thanks for sharing. I am planning on a combination of triggering an MS20, Sigma, CS30 and CS 5, I have not tried anything yet, I was just looking at the specs and I wanted to know if anybody else had any experience about this. Also I would like to buy a SQ1 but I am ...

Korg MS series and Yamaha CS series Trigger compatibility

I am wondering how well these different brand units communicate with each other. They both use Hz per Volt , so I assume that they should track pitch correctly, but what about Trigger? MS series use S-Trigger and Yamaha CS series use a strange trigger system with positive voltages for note OFF and n...

Re: Troubleshooting&Repairing ElectronicMusic Synthesizers e

Many thanks for your insights Garranimal, the book was released at the end of the analog era, so I was hoping to find some more advanced stuff about analog synths, like SSM/CEM failure symptoms, information about Roland/Yamaha/ Korg custom IC's , notes on servicing early synths like EMS/EML/Moog/SEM...

Re: Troubleshooting&Repairing ElectronicMusic Synthesizers e

Thank you all for your input , I deeply appreciate it. I am mostly interested in this specific book because I am planning on buying it but since it is quite expensive, I would like to hear some opinions first about it. If you have any other related book recommendations , please let me know. So far I...
