Vintage Allen & Heath Saber mixing console.
Hi guys, I have just bought a non functional A&H Saber 32:8:8 PA mixer, without its PSU. I am planning on building a PSU, restoring it and using it as a tracking and recording mixer. Does anybody still use this mixer ? is it any good for modern production ? The Serial is 32055, is this a saber plus ...

Re: Yamaha CS50 - low notes tuning problem, one voice only
Hi and welcome to the board. Since you get normal operation from the 3 voice cards , the problem should be on the M1 card. Before trouble shooting the M1, you should : -check for 4.000V on (TU) On KAS board - check pin 13 of IC2, adjust to 250.0mV while pressing low C - check pin6 of IC3, adjust to ...

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
As you reported , you get a low pulsing noise out of Q22's collector. It could be a suspect.
Do you have output from q23's Collector ? It is connected directly to the base of of q22, so they should have the same output. if not , check for broken tracks/joints in their path

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
Proper way to test a resistor is off circuit, but since they read ok in circuit, most chances are that they are good. Finally I have managed to save and magnify the picture you have uploaded. i think that the 3 pink dots should give you the same output, but as you have reported it is not. please conf...

Re: Best synth under £100
The novation xio synth is one of my favorite budget synths, the build quality is c**p, it is monotimbral but I really love its sound.
Plus you get an audio interface, a cool touchpad and a joystick controller.

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
Unfortunately I can not view the picture properly , it is a bit small, but as it seems you did a good work. ;) Resistors can get up in value or get open, first check in circuit and if in doubt pull it off and test it. About transistor testing, it depends on the transistor type, you 'd better google ...

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
For broken ground connection , use a multimeter in continuity test mode, while the synth is turned off.
If you have an old headphones set that you dont need anymore, just cut the trs jack and use sleeve and tip just like I have mentioned.
Be careful not to short anything, good luck!

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
Actually what I described is a poor man's audio detector, proper way to do this is using an amp and a speaker, there was a radio shack product about this but I have never seen it or used it. http://www.electrodragon.com/w/images/2/22/5113dc95ce395fe501000000.png You need 2 cables with alligator clip...

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
So, I am assuming that you are using the HIGH output jack and that you have the schematics At the output section, first of all check that both output jacks have proper ground. Broken ground connections here can cause low volume. Here are the schematics: http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/yekuku...

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
You are making me feel old, there is no way i can read the pic. Please have in mind that I am no electronics or repair guru, I just enjoy repairing synths. You should remove the slider from the pcb in order to test it properly. In many cases when maximum volume is set , the slider should work at nea...

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
Hi, I bet that the slider needs proper cleaning and it should get back to work. Replacements are hard to find, the slider probably works with 15v but no need to worry about power consumption and voltage rating , just look for a 10k audio taper with the same footprint/contacts. I assume that the rs10...

Re: Simple passive attenuator. Help Needed!
Actually I was looking for the simplest solution while testing signals, not full mute , just a bit of attenuation. I am using croc clips on pots , so less wires the better. So to say all 3 wiring methods actually work. Wiring #3 seems to be the best option Wiring #1 , as Stab kindly pointed out work...

Re: Weak output from Roland RS101 string synth
As very well Dr.Phibes pointed out , it is definitely the slider. I recommend desoldering it and opening it up for a good cleaning. Remove dust and dirt with a soft brush, you can use a qtip with a drop of deoxit but dont overdo it because the carbon rails may wear off .Others recommend using rubbin...
