Re: yamaha cs10 problems, please help

dude are you sure you don't have the vca gain all the way up? it's on the far top right on the cs synths and will make your synth continually drone if it's up at all it should be all the way down. it's been a long time since I've had a cs but this happened to me many times... Spot on - I was thinki...

Re: What's wrong with my Poly Evolver?

The encoders are jumping like crazy. Turning it DOWN sometimes makes the value go UP and the other way around. And then sometimes the value doesn't change at all! It's so frustrating because it makes creating sound on it almost impossible and little fun to play at all :( Sadly this is a very common...

Re: Brian Eno: An Ending - Celestial Choir Source?

I did want a DX1 for a long time until I thought hard about it and realized there really isn't much of a difference between a DX1 and a DX5. No.. you are right but I just love the thought of the guts of a DX5 in that lovely chunky black case with solid wooden end cheeks. Mind you - even the DX5 is ...

Re: Brian Eno: An Ending - Celestial Choir Source?

According to Daniel Lanois the main synth used on Apollo was a CS-80. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/q-daniel-lanois/185972-apollo.html THATS where I read about Apollo. I didn't know about the reversal. makes a lot of sense. Gonna go play around on my 80 now! OK I'm jealous now! - I've wanted one o...

Re: Korg Emx-1 Power Supply

hey all, got a korg emx cuople of days ago, and the power supply always starts making noise when it gets hot. If it is all cooled down the noise is gone. A normal behaviour? Does someone else have the problem? Should I get a new supply? p.s.: the electribe works well (really great machine :) ) A lo...

88 Keys!! - that's more keys than any synth player could possibly handle! :)

Re: My Dream MIDI Keyboard

What about the SY-99? That's a beast. Isn't it basically a better SY-77? I think the OP has a TG-77 already anyway. That's a pity about the build quality on the Fusion. Personally I found the Fusion easy to figure out, although I didn't look deeply into it, I only had a few hours with my friendly l...

Re: What can I do with an Apple IIe?

The lemonade selling game was my favorite.. Oh Wow - we used to play that game! We also played a superb clone of Space Invaders and a shooting game where you hid behind cacti and shot your opponent. Lord that brings back memories! Our neighbour had a an Apple II with a green screen, two 5.25" flopp...

Re: new synth needed

yeah wow. the nord modular looked really cool. i think the nord lead might be better for me tho (plus its on ebay). the blofeld was cool too. they are pricey tho. i checked out the access virus. it sounded really cool. This is partly my point - the Virus and the Blofeld are often pitched against on...

Re: Rarest Synths

I tried suggesting the Novachord and all of the information I had to a certain admin back in about 2002 or so, but it was REFUSED. Hmm - this is depressing; Why is one of the finest vintage synth sites refusing an entry covering the world's first polyphonic synth? Interesting - because I tried to g...

Re: Brian Eno: An Ending - Celestial Choir Source?

from what i've heard its true that he used a cs80 mostly on that album, and got the dx7 later. but i dont think that choir sound is from a cs80, it sounds so real. Exactly my conclusions - I know he used CS-80 (god I want one!!) but I'm far from convinced even this beast could emulate a celestial c...

don't know exactly wich gear he used on that specific track. But since I remember, this genious was the master of the Yamaha DX7 in those years. http://www.whitwell.ndo.co.uk/musicthing/images/eno1.jpg I'm a big fan of him since the eighities, was my studio idol. GEnious! Those incredible lovely wa...

Re: new synth needed

I can highly recommend the Blofeld - it's capable of an -amazingly- wide sound palette from loud harsh and nasty through to huge warm and epic. IMHO it's great value for money, well built, works surprisingly well as a multitimbral VA, and is also good fun thanks to it's brilliant arpeggiators and sh...

Re: Prophet 5 HELP!

Hi, Many thanks for the quick replies. I did talk to Wine Country. They weren't much help. I did purchase a new ROM from them. They did say in the beginning that my machine at best would be a parts machine----and offered me $225+shipping for it. I'd buy a complete one for that too. Ed Hmmm... I am ...

[quote="rhino"]if you're willing to settle for 85-95% of your wishes, try out a (used) Alesis Fusion-8hd[/quote It sounds to me like 70% of what you are describing is the beautifully programmable and expressive monster synth the Yamaha SY-77 - what was Yamaha's flagship synth in 1990 and a beast man...
