Re: tenori-on os update... i can't beleive it!!
The only think I can't believe is the price. This toy (yes a toy) is the most overpriced piece of plastic out there... I know, was just about to say exactly this, I saw one on eBay and almost s**t myself when I glanced at the price, it's worth that?!? ...and people say 303's are overpriced ...

290365186521 DREAMING SO BAD! Yep, this is the guy from Awave Pro Music the music shop in Melbourne, I think I've said enough on this guy - but good luck to him anyway, he needs all he can get. I bet we'll be seeing this 101 cycling through ebay for about the next, oh about five years - good one Aw...

Re: Power Strips? Conditioners? What else do I need HELP
Hey Nadafarms, I hear Furman are a good brand - can't go wrong if you get a couple of them. I have a Samson power conditioner that I hope to set up to use with my rack gear, basically I like to spread the load on the wall sockets, so if you have several I thinks it's best to split up the total of yo...

Re: Is Alan R Pearlman still alive???
Oh, for the record I don't think new synths can't be made like old analogs either. There's just no way to please you people except for inventing a time machine, going back to the 70s, ordering a huge batch with money siphoned off the military-industrial complex so you can store them in a nice gov't...

Re: Is Alan R Pearlman still alive???
The sound of a circuit has more to do with the way the circuit is laid out on the board and the thickness of the traces than whether they use 1% SMD resistors or 5% through-hole ones. I very highly doubt that the thickness of the traces will have more effect on the sound/VCO drift than varying comp...

Re: Is Alan R Pearlman still alive???
Regarding the compnent thing, I think it has more to do with the individual tolerances and values being "not quite perfect" that makes the vintage drift/tone. The accuracy of components has intentionally been vastly improved since the 70's so I reckon thats where the main differences are - but it'd ...

Re: Yamaha - enemies of synthsis!
AG no offense but you seem to love making bizarre nonsensical arguments that seemingly, attempt to persuade us that you have no misconceptions about anything synth related. I find the 'hate' that so many people (and you in your above statement) seem to feel to younger aspiring artists/producers fran...

Re: Worst Roland, Korg and Yamaha Synths?
hmm.. Maybe I'm the only one but I actually don't mind the U-110 if you get them for the right price. I have two which I bought for $25 AU each earlier this year (thats cheaper than most CD's FFS!) and yes the editing sucks but I'm used to that - owned an RS-70 for years and could never work out how...

Re: Just got Absynth5 and I have no idea what Im doing...
I'm not totally sure but you seem to want to learn all this in like 1hr, Absynth takes time. Just use the presets to begin with, download some easier to program freeware (TAL Juno and SH101 emulations are great), once you've got the hang of OSC, VCF, EG & VCA basic synthesis, then you can apply your...

How about;
Analog Poly - Alesis A6 Andromeda (& Sunsyn)
Analog Mono - Moog Voyager
Analog Modular - MacBeth M5
Digital Hardware - Roland V-Synth
Digital Software - NI Reaktor 5
There, nice list

Re: Worst Roland, Korg and Yamaha Synths?
Yamaha = Tyros Yes! Exactly, I've often think about this when I'm in the local shop, who in the name of f@#k is going to buy this POS for 4k ?!? Gimme a motif over this aaanyday  Roland. After the V synth, I haven't seen anything interesting from them..... Well, I don't mind the Fantom ROMple...

Re: Just got Absynth5 and I have no idea what Im doing...
Seems by starting with Absynth you're attempting to jump in the deep end so to speak, Absynth especially V.5 is one of the most in depth software synthesizers (save something modular) that money can buy. Focus on learning the basics of synthesis and once you've done that, apply it to the functions i...
