Re: E-Mu Command Station Sync?
Thanks for the help guys ... No, I was just using the USB for E-Loader. Not a bad little app. It doesn't do much ... basically just uploads and downloads 'songs' and 'patterns,' but it does that well. I joined the Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7 and with my approval notice they sent me a 'FA...

E-Mu Command Station Sync?
Hi ... I just got a used MP-7 I wanted to use for a sound module. When I hook it up through various software ... Cubase 5 or Chainer ... and send it midi messages it either freezes or 'howls.' When I play it on the unit or run it's internal sequencer everything seems to be running fine. I have it co...

Re: Stacking JD-990s?
Thanks again Aeon ... found it and you are correct. I still don't see how the patches would sync unless you'd sent a midi/ or sysex message from somewhere up the line. I guess to just mess around with them I'll set the patches manually. One other thing that I don't get ... how does the second and or...

Re: Stacking JD-990s?
Hi Aeon! You nailed it. Thanks for the dope. But it takes me back to the drawing board ... that is how I tried to 'stack' them when I got that weird whine and nothing else? It seems like just going midi thru (from one) to midi in (to the next) wouldn't sync the patches. That's why I thought in stack...

Re: Stacking JD-990s?
Related question ... if this is only going increase polyphony, but essentially otherwise 'cripple' the second unit as an additional sound source ... i.e., render it as a 'mirror' of the first unit ... maybe I don't want it anyway? I never intended it as a single sound module for all purposes. So is ...

Re: Stacking JD-990s?
Hi Cornutt ... Thanks ... I did d/l the manual. For some reason it doesn't seem to accept searches ... maybe some older pdf format ... so I'm left with the Table of Contents and the Topical and Regular Index. See Appendix page 34 of the Owner's Manual II (Reference) for a description of stack and st...

Re: Stacking JD-990s?
Thanks Duncan ... Yes, trying to run two of them in 'stack' mode ... for which they were designed and have a special midi setting that selects 'Stack' and designates each units order in the stack. I tried the routing you mentioned (or am pretty sure I did!) and just got this hi pitched low level whi...

Stacking JD-990s?
I need some help stacking my new 'used' JD-990s. I've found in the manual where and what the midi settings are for each machine. However I can't find any other info. If someone is or has done this I'd appreciate some instruction. Specifically, how do you route the midi between the machines and a PC....

How to link JD-990s?
I have a little knowledge ... but as they say, that's a dangerous thing. I'd like to find/ learn some basic information about linking two JD-990s and setting them up with my sequencer. I keep reading about how you can link up to 4 (and some say 8) units. I see that each unit has a midi in/out/thru. ...

Re: JD-990 Expander Board Patches
Hey Amigos ... thanks so much. I've heard about Midi Quest and I plan to try it and try to get my head around it. See if I can use these patches that way. I presume all I need is a midi in/ midi out connection from the JD-990 through my sound cards midi ports to the PC. So much software, so little t...

Re: JD-990 Expander Board Patches
Hey, White ... Thanks so much! It got me 95% the way there ... I could see the board was loaded but couldn't hear anything till I used the scroll arrow to highlight the patch number ... probably just a 'noob' thing you figured I should have already known. Of course, every great answer is punished by...

JD-990 Expander Board Patches
Hi ... I know my way around softsynths a bit ... but I just bought my first hardware synth and I'm lost ... even when I Read The Fine Manual. OK ... on the JD-990, can anyone instruct me or point me to a link about how to access the patches on the expander board? The manual talks about Internal, Car...

Roland "JD-990 EXPANDER"?
I just purchased a JD-990 and was intending to buy a "Vintage Synth" card for it. I notice that the front bottom right of the unit has a metallic pressed on label that appears to be factory original with large "EXPANDED" and then "Plus 8Megabyte Vintage Synth" underneath. When I look inside the plat...
