Re: Goodbye DSI Mono Evolver
2 analog oscillators are plenty, but add 2 digital osc's and you've got alot of options. Doesn't hurt that it actually sounds great, too. Totally agree. Also, those digital oscillators are routed through analogue filters: I remember thinking the Desktop Evolver had a much more raw sound than the VA...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2GSyQBdeEQ#t=1m05s I'd never heard anything that sounded like this being used in electronic music before it appeared here. Stroke of f**k genius if you ask me. Excellent production and synthesis skills to be sure, but my mind screams: car advert . Vorsprung durch tec...

Re: Incoming Knobby Blofeld (sort of)?
Waldorf's mod matrix is as easy as it can be. It's very well laid out compared to its power. Seconded. I particularly like how envelopes are shown on the screen as you modify them. Btw, if menu-diving isn't your thing, there's an excellent Blofeld VST, which gives you access to all the parameters o...

Not quite -
A dash of Clockwork Orange, mixed in with a smidgen of Blake's 7, and a brace of countless other Seventies' BBC space operas. And the smallest hint of Grieg.

I'll stick my neck out here and say I've got some fantastic sounds out of Applied Acoustic Systems' Ultra Analog VA-1. Particularly buttery Oberheim-ish brass pads, and some very usable stringer patches. Viz:

Re: iPhone-only tune
lovely track. 8-) i like how you didn't create it to sound really really like analog, because it isn't. which is cool--analog isn't over-rated, but digital is surely underutilized in electronic music these days. Thanks for the compliment! There's a bit of antialiasing on the synths in Nanostudio, s...

iPhone-only tune
Hi all, In the interests of doing something with the minimum of equipment, I decided to write a tune using nothing but my iPhone with Nanostudio . It was an interesting experience - virtual keys 1/2 cm wide are a challenge! Still, I'm shocked what can be done with something that is essentially just ...

Re: real synth destroy (alesis vs korg?)
Definitely a Casio home keyboard.
Nice track, although they are guilty of inadvertently misappropriating Visage's Fade to Grey in the chorus:
(Although I did the same thing once, so it's perfectly acceptable.

Banks and s**t? Well, the best thing to do with banks is to take a dump. Then you can spread your c**p around, share it with everyone.

Re: Hartmann Neuron VS under windows 7
thanks for that mate, i have an older dualcore laptop with 4gbs thats running xp that i've run the neuron on before and have a nice pcmica sound card for it. a simple usb/midi box should do the trick, could probably use my micro modular on it as well but i think that works under windows 7 ok.. Soun...

Re: Hartmann Neuron VS under windows 7
whats the best way to integrate a standalone pc into a midi enviroment? wont you get problems with latency? or do try and sync your daw/vst host to the external midi clock? I have an old Core 2 PC running Windows XP, which acts as a host for my Yamaha SW1000XG card. It has no monitor, no keyboard a...

Jesus, are you telling me I might be able to buy a Casio synth that doesn't need the batteries changed every 2 months?
