Re: Korg and Roland -- old again
 I love it when these discussions turn to expression as some sort of judgment scale for the value of an instrument. As if expression is everyone's goal or something. What else do you do with a musical instrument apart from use it to express musical ideas? 1. you don't want to know what else i d...

Re: Do I buy the Juno60 with JSQ60 or the Jupiter6 with Euro
Thank you for that very persuasive argument! And thank you for this little creative tip! i use mine to write sequences on the juno 60 and then timestretch the samples to match w/e bpm i'm working with. sounds awesome because it lets you hear the cool juno-60 sound and a little character from the sa...

Re: Do I buy the Juno60 with JSQ60 or the Jupiter6 with Euro
get the juno60. 1. you have a jsq-60 already 2. you know what it sounds like, you've played it, you liked playing it, and you like the sound. 3. the juno is cheaper 4. if you get bored and want to sell it you can get your money back and buy a jupiter 6. it's all too easy to read up on what you want ...

Re: New monster analog poly-synth
Synths used to be about making the sounds we'd hear in the future, now it's all about being retro. The sad truth of it was that synths were popularized by people looking to the past and prog-rockers long before anyone got popular for using them to portray the future. Sadder yet is that everything a...

Maschine 1.6.2. update...vsts!!!
still no time stretch feature, but now you can host vsts! there's more stuff as well, and it looks slightly different. the capabilities if maschine have been massively increasing since it came out... keep it up NI!

Re: Making chopped up breaks/drum samples sound right...
yes, and it can export a whole track, which is pretty sweet. maschine is excelent for chopping samples, and has a magnificent detect mode. ONE thing however, is that it lacks timestretch to the best of my knowledge. pitching just isn't the same. time stretching your samples will msot likely solve yo...

Re: Any Jupiter 8-emulation vsts other than Arturia's?
Are there any VSTs that do a good job of emulating Roland's Jupiter 8? I am aware of Arturia, but Arturia has a bad reputation of recycling oscillators and lag issues. I personally really like the Arturia version. I haven't had any problems with lag issues when using it though, but I guess that doe...

Re: a large project
I have an intro to keyboard-ing book that's kinda like that, it explains the basic traditional keyboard techniques/rhythms/melodies in blues, jazz, rock, and some latin music among other things. As far as a book that's solely explaining different genres, personally i'd rather get that information f...

Re: Added value of a real Korg MS-20 over the software emula
"Yes, I have the Legacy Collection...I'd bid on it if I didn't already have the software version. .... ..No software synthesizer will ever sound exactly like its analogue counterpart. "Better" is in the hands of the player." I didn't read what was in-between (too tedious), but it sounds like the so...

Re: Added value of a real Korg MS-20 over the software emula
That leads me to believe you're saying: If you're into Electronic Music then your instrument becomes part of your connection. If you really feel that connection, you'll choose certain instruments for certain reasons. Those certain reasons are why one would choose the analog MS-20 over a software em...
