Re: What's going on with all the spam?
It's not going to stop, if anything it will continue to get worse, until the forum literally drowns and the few mods there are just get so fed up dealing with it they won't anymore - or the forum changes hands somehow, but it seems difficult to contact anyone who has that power. So the forum goes o...

Re: Synths used in some classic techno and house.
All period specific samplers (and h**l, even later models) are fair game. Don't forget Roland and ensoniq too. The akai S series is always a notable classic. Basically, it's whatever was available and looked appealing to the artist at the time. Also because of the available technology, your 1985/86 ...

Re: Synths used in some classic techno and house.
Samplers were a huge part of the sound, and some of those TR and FM bass sounds you're hearing are also sampled.

Quick: someone sell a CS-80, buy the forum from our current admin, and then manage it properly!

+1 for the virus. Tha was my first thought. Also, Roland's boutiques check all the boxes, and are way cheaper.

Re: Using A Single Reference Monitor as Keyboard Amp
I think one of two situations will occur: either you will hook it up and get either the left, or the right side but not both, or you will get the left and right side summed to mono. Any stereo specific effects or sounds may be distorted or inaudible. I use a single bx5 occasionally when I'm jamming ...

Re: Synth for 8/16 bit sounds.
The fusion looks cool, but as an alternative, what if you got a keyboard sampler and just made analog and FM patches with your software? You should be able to pick up an ASR10 or something for around 600, and others for cheaper. There are tons of analog and FM sounds floating around that can give yo...

Re: Was the DX7 used in When I Hear Music? Plus more.
I would presume he was using this same gear during that time to record Debbie Deb. Somebody who owns a Juno-60 would need to weigh-in if that is plausible. But me, I don't hear anything overtly FM/DX-7 on this track except some bell tones. I think it's plausible. I could see making all of these sou...

Re: Accessing an Akai s3200xl via SCSI - question
Things you've no doubt already thought about, but... Could the Scsi IDs be a problem? Is it the cable? Is the cable too long? What does the 3200xlmanual say about connecting to a computer? could you connect another scsi device to the 3200xl (is the card in the sampler working properly? Does anything...

Re: Maschine controller knob deterioration?
I was surprised to see that kind of deterioration on something I bought new! The controller is practically kept in a cave. I'll have to try the wd40 to see if it can get all the sticky stuff off. Initially I was worried the pads might be a problem area, but they're fine. Just melting knobs!

I like this. It's like salt tank meets Jean Michel Jarre meets land of rape and honey. The character in that guy's voice is great too! Who even is that saying "I believe in America?"

Re: Does anyome here use Wavelab?
I use wavelab - I love it. I have an old edition, and never felt the need to upgrade. Im sure the latest one is excellent. I would aim for the pro so you can get the most longevity out of your purchase, but if it's too expensive and you don't need the extra features, go for the essentials. Hi Ninja...

Re: when will this trend ever end!?! sampled voices for melo
Come to think of it, when will this whole drum machine trend finally kick the bucket? It's like these kids just hit play and the whole song just plays itself. No one wants to hear that.

These kids with the samplers... They're out if control! In my day the voice was for talkin', not samplin'.
