Maschine controller knob deterioration?
I've had my maschine MK 1 controller since the day the first edition was released, and sadly after all these years, I'm having a very strange problem with it. Everything works and responds perfectly, but the knobs themselves seem to be melting. They're sticky to the touch, and I can feel the residue...

Re: Help me choose a synthesizer :)
You should be able to design your own patches from scratch on the novations, and pretty much any VA by initializing the patch. The presets are basically just bookmarks, you can disregard them if you don't want to use them. There's no cheating involved I'm designing sounds on those instruments. It's ...

Re: Help me choose a synthesizer :)
I think the Radias is a step up from the ms2000, but that could be great as well. There are tons of VAs on the market, you just need to choose a flavor that you like that's within your budget. As for the bell sounds, I wouldn't be put off by the PCM section of something like the radias. A lot of VAs...

Have you considered the Roland boutiques for some Jx/Juno vibes that won't break the bank?

Re: Help me choose a synthesizer :)
Analog is the most expensive feature a synth can have these days. If the ms-20 mini was priced appropriately compared to what you can get it for on ebay (and new), and you found it to be too expensive for the features, maybe the analog synth rout is not really the direction you should go in right no...

Re: Should I buy an analog synth now?
Whether or not you want to own and play an analog synth can come down to just the fact that you're interested and want to explore a new instrument. That being said, an analog synth will not directly help you advance in the areas you need to advance in. Here's what you need to do to make progress in ...

Re: Roland JX-1 velocity / sensitivity problem
When you took it apart, did you disassemble the keyboard and clean the areas where the velocity sensitivity mechanisms make contact? There might be a coating of gunk preventing something from working properly, or perhaps something has deteriorated and the parts that need to make contact can no longe...

Re: Akai S3000XL waveform looping
I watch your videos a lot on YouTube - thanks for giving these samplers an online presence! The only trouble with this technique is it requires a computer with scsi and the appropriate software to make the connection... Although it is possible to transfer files via midi, it just takes ages. Does thi...

Re: What sequencer to buy ?
Yes, the beatstep pro is a different animal. You get 3 sequencers with a tr style row of steps, the pads for entering notes, and knobs like the sq1 that can be used to enter notes as well, but they also work with velocity and gate. The 3rd is a rythm sequencer that can send 8 drum triggers. All of y...

Re: What sequencer to buy ?
Get the beatstep pro, and don't look back. The sq1 is good and basic, but the BSP is so far beyond it, it's a no brainer. Especially if you have two synths to sequence, since you can sequence both at the same time and have room for drums!

Re: Need Opinions on used Quality Basic Synth
Real Quick: save your money, build up your budget, and you'll have a lot more options without having to settle for the first things you find. If you decide one of those is what you want, then you're still good to go. Not what you want to hear, but ... Good luck! you beat me to the punch!!! I reccom...

Re: How do you feel about mini-keys
This thread is every bit as relevant today as it was back when it was started. :drinks: I like mini keys. Sometimes I want to just play a part into a sequencer, or into my laptop and it's just not practical to relocate to a full sized keyboard, hook it up, and then try to capture what I was beginnin...

Re: elektron sps mk1
You realize midi only transfers note (and related) data, not an audio signal, right? This might be where the problem lies... If you hook up a midi cable from your computer out to the sps in, you can send note information to play the sps from a notes you enter in a midi track in cubase. If you hook ...
