Re: Real Mccoy
Well, at least you've got your samplers from the era, which would have been pretty important. Datafile break beats (and of course breaks from vinyl and other sources, naturally), a nice digital synth for house organs and so on (m1 organ ftw!), roland tr drum machines, and of course whatever older sy...

Re: Akai S3000XL waveform looping
Yea - it looks like that's a limitation with the 3200xl. I wonder why you can't just loop the whole thing? I'm spoiled by other gear as well! Oh well.

Re: Akai S3000XL waveform looping
You should be able to loop it from the beginning... I'll check om my 3000xl when I get a chance. Have you checked to make sure the start and end points in the trim section or other sections are set to the beginning? Off the top of my head, it sounds like maybe setting those to the actual begging cou...

Re: Model D, P6, TR-626 - together?
If the Minimoog has cv and gate inputs, then most likely it can. The beatstep pro is another great sequencer that could interface with cv/gate. If the Minimoog doesn't, or takes some odd kind of cv/gate signal the sq1 can't accommodate, then no. I would search on YouTube to see if other people are d...

Re: Model D, P6, TR-626 - together?
If you do get an sq1, you can use the trigger out on the 626 to sync the sq1's clock to the rythm by sending one pulse per quarter note (rimshot on 1,5,9, & 13)

Re: The Access Virus: digital distinction ?
On top of that, what exactly has the virus got that's so different? Outside the context of this specific discussion, this is an interesting topic it's own right... It's not that the virus does anything different per se, but rather that it does what it does in a really nice way. In short, it's just ...

Re: Australian SH-101 to North American electricity issue
I'm almost 100% sure you can use your sh101 anywhere in the world, provided you have the correct voltage adapter that works with your country's outlets. I use the common 9v 500ma roland adapter. You might just want to buy an identical spec adaptor (to the one you have) locally. AFAIK, you only have ...

Re: Novation Supernova 2 & Ableton Live as midi keyboard
If I understand correctly, your Roland midi interface is what you should be looking for as something that shows up in live. That's what's going to receive / transmit the midi to and from your nova. The age of the keyboard shouldn't matter in this case, unless the UM one works in a completely differe...

And sorry but that clip brings pointless hype videos to a new low  I was thinking the same thing, fuzzy generic stock footage lifestyle marketing. Like a pharmaceutical commercial w/ beatboxing. *Grooves busted on the Octotrack II were busted in a professional environment. Actual results may v...

Re: Modern Keyboard Sampler
What about the Akai s5000/s6000? It hooks up to any keyboard you want, does exactly what you want, and is dirt cheap. It can even take a hard drive, and auto load your program when your flip the switch, so you just turn it on and it's ready.

Re: roland r8 jazz brush card
It's pretty easy to not sound dated with the Rx5. I'm using it right now in a song I'm working on. I don't really see the connection between the Rx or R8 sounding dated vs. people thinking the 808 and 909 are the last word in drum machines... Incidently, there's absolutely no comparison between the ...

Re: How to save old ensoniq effects on computer? Is it possi
Good point. So ya, sysex. Did we scare away the OP with geekery? Hopefully not... I still think a PCMCIA to sd adaptor is the easiest solution. The ensoniq should treat the sd/ PCMCIA combo as an ordinary PCMCIA card, but then when you're done saving, you just pop out the sd, put it in your c...

Re: Control volume on VSTS that don't do CC changes?
That's because they have far more paramters than there are available CCs This is a pretty terrible reason for them not to map using the standard convention. Just because there are more controls, doesn't mean you can't keep the conventional numbers mapped to the conventional settings and just add th...

Re: Arturia KeyStep some setup ideas
Hey, this is a great demo of the keystep... It actually inspired me to go out and get a beatstep pro immediately, and so far it's amazing! The guy at the counter was unaware of the keystep, unsurprisingly. How do they work together? I want to use them both to make up for the shortcomings of my yamah...

Re: How to save old ensoniq effects on computer? Is it possi
Can't you just use a PCMCIA adaptor? I got one for my car (A terra I think?) That was around $20/30. It came with an hcsd flash card, and works just like a PCMCIA card, only you can leave the card in and just transfer files to your computer via sd.
