Re: I Dream of Wires
Very rarely do you hear much in the way of complex fm, attempts at physical modelling, complex envelopes, digital sound sources or anything with much grit or grunge that is heard in a lot of innovative products of today. But surely if I wanted Complex FM, Physical Modelling, Complex envelopes...fro...

Re: I Dream of Wires
Oh and skilled authorship? You could sit with a moog cabinet for a 1000 years and not get when you can with modular synthesizer possibilities in 2013. I have 40k worth of synth and modular in my house and the only moog i own still is a minitaur and a 904a clone by modcan. Its all the moog ill ever ...

Re: Kavinsky says, "No analog gear"
I keep thinking I'd like to get another MicroKorg as the layout is cool and I like what I heard from it (in the couple of days I had one), but the keys were just unplayable with my meathooks. I'd really like the MK/MS2K synth engine in a VST...it sounds really nice but four voice limitations suck a...

Re: Kavinsky says, "No analog gear"
I've said it a million times but I couldn't care less what's in an artists studio, I just want to know what's in their brain. Sometimes I make music that is supposed to sound a little bit vintage in its aesthetic too and I'd like to believe I'm semi successful even if it's entirely itb. https://soun...

Re: I Dream of Wires
Additive synthesis always disappoints me. Not that it can't be super useful but most of what I see purely additive synths used for can be replicated by putting a plain saw wave through 8 reverbs...

Re: What are your favorite type of synth sounds?
Phasers are only useful as layers on neurofunk bass to me. Aside from that I'll 99/100 times go to a flanger, chorus or a comb filter first for those kinds of effects. It's not like I don't mind the sound it's just if you use it straight, and not in a funny manner like parallel distortion etc. It do...

It's okay marc, I don't think you're a moog guy!
I just think you're gay for moogs.

OK, but who the f**k has ever heard of Raymond Scott, Donald Buchla, and Wendy Carlos?!? Are you saying that bands like Human League and Duran Duran were influenced by those people? I doubt it. :| Directly or indirectly it doesn't matter, you don't think Nick rhodes, who famously loved the se...
