Re: Vangelis' keyboard setup back in 1975
This is all a lie, vangelis never used synths, he just amplified the natural noise from reverb units, and sent it through more reverb units until he could get a workable pitch out of it. All vangelis songs are actually made entirely using reverbs.

Re: New Elektron box
Edit: Apparently the 8-bit Sony SPC700 sound chip was used for the SNES sounds. Can't find any sound toys that used this chip as sound engine though, so to pull this halfway back on topic, the NEXT new elektron box should be something like a SNESstation or a SIDstation2. Using that sony chip. ADD c...

Re: New Elektron box
7000 NOK is a bit heavy for that little box..I like the SID sound so much I even tried to learn how to program the damn thing in C64 assembly code (with an emulator). Can't imagine how the SID musicians managed to CODE their entire songs back in the 80s. I get lost in frequency conversion tables an...

Re: The obsession for the Analog
If only there was some kind of system by which we could tell the time, possibly deducing the original period in which the synth was produced without having to ascribe different describing terms to the period. Maybe with numbers or something? I don't understand, If it's old it's vintage. Want to refe...

Re: The obsession for the Analog
What a sustainable concept, I can't wait to see how well it holds up after 100 years.

Re: Ableton Push (for Live 9)
It doesn't really feel like a direct competitor to maschine for me. It's very cool though, bizarre music for the product demo. I am hesitant to believe that the world really needed another button grid controller for ableton (they're very hip it seems) but it makes a lot of sense to have an in house ...

Actually there's a lot of PSS's that can be edited externally using a program called PSS-edit.

Re: The obsession for the Analog
here I couldn't agree more. Several months ago on GearSlutz there was an idiotic thread on just this topic. One of their regulars was very upset that the word "Vintage" was being used to describe synths of a quality that he personally didn't find worthy... http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-...

Re: The obsession for the Analog
Rant on : But why on earth, if you think VSTs are so superior do you spend time on VSE? Very good question indeed. I never and would never state that VST's are better than a hardware analogue synth in every single way imaginable, I didn't do that. Practicality wise they make millions of times more ...

Rant on : But why on earth, if you think VSTs are so superior do you spend time on VSE? This is excately why I stopped comming here the last time, allways feel like I have to defend why I like my Jupiter-8 insted of just being smart and use software. Us who like vintage, or are analog purists are a...
