Re: Figuring out the Midi on my Mini Moog

I don't know. I saw that, too, and i have asked the guy I bought it from but he had no idea. He owned it from the early 80's until 2007 or 2008 when i bought it from him. It was modded when he got it and he never tried to hook anything up to it. The Gate hole was empty when I got it and the hand-wri...

Re: Figuring out the Midi on my Mini Moog

That's probably the best course of action before plugging anything in or poking around with a multi meter.

I am always a bit reluctant, though, to open up non-broken electronics.

i should just get over that.

Figuring out the Midi on my Mini Moog

My Mini Moog has this MIDI port and I am not sure how to go about figuring it out. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/DoggyDig/P1040145.jpg I am tempted to just plug in a MIDI device and see what happens but I wanted to know if anyone has any advice. I am not even sure if it's MIDI (could be DIN...

...or just give it to Alex. He deserves it. i mean look at those shades! they would go great w/ a model D. 8-) Here is a computer simulation of Alex E playing the MiniMoog. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/DoggyDig/JayMoog.jpg Some of the details are not perfect but you get the idea...

Re: 1970's MiniMoog... now what?

I say you should play it often and even take it to gigs.

I know it's got some serious monetary value but it also has value as a musical instrument.

You will get much enjoyment and so will your audiences.

Re: So who runs Moog's YouTube channel? This is a little we

So basically it's easy to say now that it was a non-issue. And yet you're still going on and on about it. Why? For the reasons I seem to have to repeat again and again because people refuse to listen. How many times do I have to say this before it sinks in? It took Moog two weeks to respond to this...

Re: New Schmidt Analog Synthesizer

30k!?!?!?! wow, is that a joke? I dont want to sound like the guy who is complaining, but geez that is some price tag. On the brighter side, the thing looks amazing. The thing doesnt look like it would be very easy to lug aorund though. However, people have transported cs80's to shows before, so I ...

Re: TR-808 with blue step buttons 1-4?

It's all the same kind of gear fetish/trivia geek thinking. Like the folks who spend a bunch of time playing with different op amps in Ibanez Tube Screamers to find the best sounding one, even though the guys who made those boxes popular just grabbed whichever one was nearest to them in the store. ...

Re: TR-808 with blue step buttons 1-4?

The brown/black thing sounds familiar. I looked at a few web pages when I first got mine but I have barely looked at any thing since then. I also have barely touched the 808 either, for some reason.

Re: TR-808 with blue step buttons 1-4?

It's my understanding that some early prototypes had blue buttons. Having said that, it would certainly be easy to replace the buttons . In fact, I have thought about putting some different colored buttons on mine. If you see one of these for sale, I would check the serial number. A very early one m...

Re: Analog, VA or..... the future?

You guys hip to the Ondes Martonet? Probably one of the most expressive electronic instruments ever made and yet monophonic and damn near monotimbral (meaning it only has one or two "sounds") but as expressive as a violin or cello. Buchla has worked for years to try and make controllers that were m...
