Here are some good sound demos of it:

X-station sounds very similar, maybe even same engine

Re: Wow another soundcloud thread cool story bro
^ thanks! I appreciate any feedback but positive is always good I'm on bandcamp now as well as soundcloud, I kind of like the album / art setup on there. Here is a new track using the much maligned korg microsampler - it's first recording for me - , korg kaoss quad, and 4-string bass mixed and maste...

Re: Elektron Octatrack!
thanks for the info - I think for now it is not for me (at least given current price and gear I have) but I'm very interested to hear what can be done on it. I could see running an entire track ( or a track broken into stems) into that things and making some insane remix.

Re: Elektron Octatrack!
Cool i'll check out the elektron site....having never used their gear the terminology/workflow is a little intimidating but seems very cool. I was hoping to replace the SP555 (and ESX1) with this but the 8 track limitation (ie, not having a bunch of samples on pads + 8 tracks, or maybe I missed some...

Re: Elektron Octatrack!
Boy this thread sure died off once the thing came out
Anyone doing anything great with this? For awhile I was thinking about selling gear and trading up but there is a lack of quality demos out there it seems....haven't heard either if they got the FX section filled out more.

Re: Korg reduces microSampler price
I've had some more time to mess with mine; I think it does well for what it is. A few points: -Everyone (mostly) loves the Korg ESX but you have 8 parts + 1 key/slice/stretch per pattern, thats it. That is very limiting to me.... I have 36 sample spots on the MS and it is very easy to resample a phr...

Re: 90s sounding big beat \break beat drums
Right; I think of Big Beat still using breakbeats, my main point is that rather than being lofi and gritty breakbeats, certain bands use more modern/crisp but still vinyl-y drums http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_beat a couple examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKTJoHbKZO0&feature=related http:/...

Re: 90s sounding breakbeat drums
Thanks, i've seen that vid before...I guess i'm not asking so much, how to chop up/effect vinyl but rather what SOURCE did they use :D - like, heavy compressed live set, a roland electronic set overdubbed with real snares, etc etc. oh also I guess I should say "big beat" not "breakbeat" before I get...

90s sounding big beat \break beat drums
Hi guys - was listening to some older breakbeat (i guess that is the style) type stuff like Chemical Brothers and especially The Crystal Method. Now usually I think about people taking older vinyl breaks, warping them etc to get their drums, but these drums come off as tighter, more high end, more m...

Re: Chip Tunes Drums?
Thanks for the samples I had that game as a kid (maybe 8th, 9th grade) and I loved the sound design on it. I can still remember certain songs ("jurassic hip hop" or something?). I had tapes I had made of video game music ripped from the genesis, good times. A few other good ones to check out the sou...

Re: Korg reduces microSampler price
Picked one up for about 300 online....knew about the detractors (no true ADSR, build quality, sequencer, sampling time etc etc) before I bought. My experience with samplers has been the SP555, ES-1 mkii, ESX-1, KP3, and RS7000. First off, build quality is pretty bad, the output is maybe a little wea...

Re: Kaoss Pad Quad
Just got mine but not much time to play it yet (damn you, stuff I have to do in life) first impressions, i'll post more later pros -very fun, fast to use. immediate smile factor. -effects are mostly of a really high quality -effect buttons and freeze work fantastic, really quick changes and you can ...

Re: How to NOT be overcompressed
Sometimes rather than compression , the old method of "riding" the levels on tracks works. In a DAW, maybe a volume envelope (basically drawing shapes around the sections you want to boost or cut manually) would work better. In a good mixing book I have the author describes manually (!!) pushing the...

Re: Kaoss Pad Quad
Agreed, I think it looks like plenty of fun overall despite the limitations / lower number of effects others have noted. I'm biased of course being a KP3/mini kp owner. Does anyone know when these actually drop? zzounds says Feb 20th, Novamusik has february but when I contacted them I just got "spri...
