Re: What got you into synths?
Gary Numan 'Cars'. Was in first grade at the time. Was so enamored with it that I brought the K-Tel album to school to play in music class.

Plus, add a touch of chorus and a dash of reverb, then you'll be big hair and parachute pants in no time.sequentialsoftshock wrote:You may want to attempt making your own patch with a saw wave. Resonance 1/4 cutoff to taste/sound.
The final countdown. Classic.

Re: Top 20 Most Unreliable Vintage Synths
Memorymoog is 30 lbs of stuff jammed into a 10 lb capacity box. There are literally stacks of pcbs in there, so working on it is a bit nerve-racking. Key contacts require cleaning on occasion. The bulk and weight make it difficult to transport, a flight case just adds tremendous weight. It has a bui...

Re: Advice for renting synths
Wouldn't dare ask a guitarist to borrow his ax for a while. On the other hand pianos and organs are thought of as furniture anyone can come along and take a seat. Synthesizers are in some gray area in between. I might loan to trusted friends, but even so there can be a liability issue there.

Behold. The midi jack was installed with a EZ pull rivet gun for that ultra pro look.
The scratches below the midi jack were pre-existing and tend to show up too well with camera flash.

Re: whats DAT all about
I was using a Panasonic DAT in the late 90s for recording analog audio input. I forget which model. The Analog/Digital converters sounded amazing.

Re: Wise Gurus help Purchase my first synth!
more food for thought. The JP-8000 while out of production makes it vintage, they are newer than the Juno and built pretty well on the inside.....considering they are in a plastic case. And it can do dual voices on a keyboard split. And yes the amazing sonics. The JD-800 mentioned have been known to...

Re: Success Story: PolySix MIDI Retrofit
Update. Spider Room Labs Midi Retrofit version 1: When connected to my PC via Emu 1212 Audiodock I'm getting some hanging and missing notes. Cubase midi filter settings had no effect ....turned out to be an issue with my 3x8 Midiman. When I come straight from the Audiodock into the P6 I'm ok and th...

Re: Success Story: PolySix MIDI Retrofit
I'm going to do the DIY one to my Polysix. Buy a PIC programmer kit and build it - will be useful for future so I don't mind that £25 expense. The other components are cheap. Oh yeah I just wanted to point out real quick I didn't know there are two versions of this one until yesterday. The first ve...

Re: Success Story: PolySix MIDI Retrofit
The things people do for quantization. Yes, I am sussed. It's easy if a performance sounds good except for one note. Also, I like sequencing (which is very easy on RAM) to flesh out different versions of song ideas before the commitment of audio recording. i had that on my midied juno 60 too... til...

Update. Spider Room Labs Midi Retrofit version 1: built and currently being tested. Connected directly to a master controller keyboard and it's working great. However.... When connected to my PC via Emu 1212 Audiodock I'm getting some hanging and missing notes. Both when I play back a sequence AND a...
