Re: Korg Polysix gets hot
When it comes to "hot" I use the touch rule. If you can touch it, leave your hand there, and the warmth isn't uncomfortable then it is probably ok. Heck, my laptop gets too warm sitting on my lap for an extended period, but it's normal. On this subject, is there a way to verify things are not too wa...

Re: Hartmann Neuron: Does a good demo exist?
I bought Shaggie's a year ago and was not impressed, so I let it go. I understand that the software version with its hardware controller is still available (at a fraction of the price of the hardware synth), so you might look into that. I have the software version and hope to post some audio demos ...

Re: Cars "Hello again" classic sync sound
It is very possible. If I remember correctly it's factory patch 15. Early on they used the Prophet 5 for that sound "Let's Go" is a good example... I think you're right. I found this info about Greg Hawkes on answers.com... "His signature sounds include the Prophet-5 "touch sync" sound heard on "Le...

Seizenheim and Tropical Nightmare really stand out for me. Clenophora is pretty cool too.

Re: New gear, new track!
What a fun track. My first sampler was ESI-32, and my first PC seq was Voyetra Gold also. I'm curious, are you running Gold from Win '95 DOS?

Re: Music
So much good music hitting this forum right now. This is no exception. Chasing Light is my fav - the kind of track that makes me part with cash. Great progressive IDM downtempo stuff. No mastering? - these mixdowns show some thoughtfulness and a good ear. There are some great computer apps that help...

Re: A Victory type instrumental montage theme!
That opening bass synth part sounds just like a patch I created on my Memorymoog. Really nice sound. And the arpeggios I like.

That is so much fun. Do you do work for NI? If not, you should. Thanks for posting!

I like too. Reminds a bit of the trippy FSOL excursions. The parts I wanted to hear were a bit quiet and vice versa.

Re: fazortan - good string machine effect plugin?
Ok after only 30 minutes of messing around I'm getting some seriously wicked sounds from this thing! Running a Jupiter-6 through an old beat-up CE-1 pedal (with chorus selected), with TWO! instances of Fazortan on the effects inserts. Getting a fat, juicy resonant vocoder-type thing going on....and ...

Re: fazortan - good string machine effect plugin?
Thanks for the input! I'll do the trial version and try an ensemble in the path. Wanting those killer strings, yes. But also wanting to try these approaches with other kinds of sounds and pads to see what happens to them as well.

fazortan - good string machine effect plugin?
Is anyone using d16group's fazortan plug-in? http://www.d16.pl/index.php?menu=189
I'm wanting to get it for $45 US. Seems like it would be perfect for getting those old-school string machine sounds if used with standard synth plugins.

Re: Élkorus - New analog Solina / Elka chorus emulation
OK to fight the G.A.S. I'm going to try out d16 group's plug-in called fazortran http://www.d16.pl/index.php?menu=189 Costing about $45 US. It only has two LFO modulated paths with selectable offset phase between them. But if you plug-in another instance and set the depth of one to zero, you can get...

Re: What is This? (Roland RS-09 Content)
Downloaded a manual from Roland just now and nothing like the signage appears in there. Nor the vintage sales ads I could find online. Wrong orientation for a sheet music stand (per juno-1, 2) plus no holes on the synth to accept one. My best guess it came from a sales display, too.
