Re: Bottom Ten Worst Synths of All Time
I picked up a Wurlitzer Music Learning Module for cheap last summer. It has a very boring simple organ tone, very cheesy and no sound shaping abilities. It is cased entirely in plastic, and the lid did not come with it. The MLM was made only as a tool for learning to play, for kids perhaps. For me, ...

Re: VP-330 revisions
I've perused at the schematics for both versions. The circuitry is a little different between them, but probably done out of cost optimization, component availability, or possibly quality/reliability improvements. The human voice/string filtering and chorus ensemble behave the same way on both. I ha...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?
Alas, I don't have the skills but this is an interesting proposal. Service manual seems difficult to google. Most of the parameters have low resolution, with the possibility of real-time stepping artifacts. Still, to add computer patch editing and midi transmit/receive would be greatly beneficial. W...

Re: Modern Analog Song Competition
I've actually gotten started. Yay me. I am learning much about my MS-20 mini in the process. Hate to brag but I think I'll have the best clap up off in here. Now if I could only get that hi-hat to sound right.

Re: ARP Solina not working. PLEASE HELP, DEVISTATED!!!!!!
And @garranimal, there are three fuses on the Solina, two which snap into clips, and one more underneath the power supply shroud which is soldered in place with two leads. Are you saying I should solder the two to the clips??? I think what I meant to say was replace the broken fuse holder so it mak...

Re: ARP Solina not working. PLEASE HELP, DEVISTATED!!!!!!
Not much time but here goes. Re-solder fuse contacts. Main power supply caps may need replacing, originals are really old. My first solina caused a fault after I accidentally plugged a modern expression pedal in the expression jack - big no-no as they use a different spec. The fact that both the bas...

Re: ARP Solina dims, looking for KEYS
Now I'm looking for the "C" and "F" keys. synthparts, syntaur, vintageplanet.nl seem to be out of stock. Vintage Vibe didn't list any for sale on their site. I've checked the synth parts thread, too. If anybody has any laying around, or can recommend another place to inquire let me know! -g

ARP Solina dims, looking for KEYS
I am needing these ARP Solina control dimensions, in mm or inches is fine: - overall height of the side panel. - the small offset between the lid and the top of side panel. - the thickness of the side panel. Building a new case from scratch, but don't have a full original to go from - just pieces. F...

Re: Akai AX-80 voice issue
While you're in there you may want to replace the rigid PCB connectors with wire. It's a known source of much headache on the AX-80 and may, or may not, have something to do with the issues.

Re: Your Favorite Patch Names
I use descriptors reminding me how the patch should be played: Arp, Bass, Stab etc. Adjectives: dark, warm, smooth etc Witty references to my influences and bad puns: - eVangelic, - ThanxTom and Curtis (Oberheim Patches) - Tiddles (from a Sasha track) - Sex Object (FM string sound from Kraftwerk tra...

Re: MC-50 love?
MKI or II? Either way $50-60 bucks is the sweet spot. If shipping included, then $75 might be worth it. Its a bonus if manuals are included. Very capable sequencer. MC-50 can load and save tons more data than the MMT-8, while not as straightforward to learn. Make sure display and floppy working well...

Re: Andromeda vs Memorymoog
My vote goes to the A6: - Reliability and newer - 2 filters including the Moog 24 db/oct w/ flexible routing - Much more modulation possiblities - On-board sequencer that can modulate, well, about anything. - Pre-configured filter feedback - Multitimbral - Unison more than 6 voices. The MM has 3 osc...
