Re: andromeda help
I think there is a way but I don't have one in front of me to try at the moment. In Program mode the clock/arp/seq features are per-program, meaning that can only affect the program parameters and not external gear. You might try Mix mode as there are more per-channel midi send/receive parameters. A...

Re: Name some underrated/hated synths that you like
+1 Juno-106. Over-rated?: maybe. Over-priced for the sheer volume produced?: the voice chip reviving process can account for some of that cost. I've flipped at least 4 of them and thought each time I didn't need this simple 1-osc per voice synth. But there is something about the sound that brought m...

Re: Arp Omni- No Sound
You haven't said what you have tried yet so first make absolutely sure it's not user error: voice levels are turned up, attack turned down, instrument switches pushed in, etc. However, the Omni is notorious for reliability issues. If no experience troubleshooting electronics, the Omni isn't a good p...

Re: Korg Polysix mod: Polysex
Very nice work. I have often dreamed of such a unison detune feature for the Juno-106 as I no longer have a Polysix.

Re: Determining needed DC polarity
You should be able to find ground by using a multimeter to make a continuity check between the the power input jack and one of the video jacks. Anything that isn't ground-to-ground shouldn't provide continuity beeps.

Re: Soldered batteries
I always thought the reason was saving expense. Sure the holders are cheap to buy one-a-time for you and me, but for a manufacturer the idea of buying in bulk just adds another 'unnecessary' expense to production costs.

Re: I believe I've narrowed down my choices.
I've owned DX-7, MS-2000, and micron. Micron has same engine as Ion AFAIK. Sold them all but now have a pair of TX81Zs midi-chained for 16-note polyphony and to save space since I didn't need another set of keys. And they are dirt cheap as a synth that is far underrated. Programming FM is not for th...

Re: Can I fix this Pot?
On topic of a center-tap pot, I modded a stock pot last year for a Roland D-50. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NAJCEBd7SCw/T5n8FleuOjI/AAAAAAAAAC4/e9TSjWKFz70/s200/DSCN0435.JPG I documented all in my blog . It was a PITA, but worked. In retrospect I would have opted for a replacement but wasn't looking i...

Re: Likelihood of Virtual Analogs To Truly Become Vintage Pi
There still seems to be a demand for Roland JP-8000 / 8080 and Oberheim OB-12. They're not fetching silly money or more than they cost new, but those synths always sell. These two synths came to mind immediately. Add the Novation supernovas/bass-station and MS-2000. It's interesting the Prophecy st...

Another scenario might be the required calibrations were not performed after the fixes were made.

Re: MIDI Management
This may not be necessary if each synth is set to a different midi channel. But a patchbay does make things clearer/easier. I'm using an M-Audio 3x8 midi box that has switches that allow me to quickly switch midi paths. Not sure if things like this are still being made.fh991586 wrote:You need a midi patchbay.

Re: Give me some feedback!!!!
This takes me back to the days I used to scan record shops for prog. house vinyl. If I auditioned this in the store it would be an automatic purchase. No trouble working this into a longer dj set. Long mix is what you want in this area. Thanks for posting.

Re: Heart/Brain of your setup?
For recording I use an old PC with winXP. Cubase SX3 provides master clock, sequencing, recording. I have procured an MC-50 mkII that perhaps would run master clock and backing tracks should the day come I play out. It uses floppy disks, ya gotta love that.

Re: Bought a used Venom Synth off of Ebay
For the extremely modest price I don't think there's any hardware synths that come close to the modulation capabilities, 3-oscillators, and on-board effects imho.

Re: Mix bus compression
I used to think as you do mixing everything to stereo in one shot. It's straightforward and convenient. But it's a destructive process, meaning you can never go back and revise what has been done and have to start over. Anyway, I too used to use a 3630 during those times. This compressor is a genera...
