Re: Jupiter 6 repair help hecka needed!1r

You're showing voltages at the transformer, I'm assuming on the secondaries? Remember at the transformer these will be AC voltages so the DVM might be reporting averages. So the switch must be good. The power on switch went out on mine three years ago. Replaced it with an illuminated switch and look...

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

14% reduction, nothing about it says toy except hater-aid... pairing it with my minibrute is the bestest thing ever. I'm loving the MS-20 mini myself. But to quantify the t-word as the size/scale is built to the proportions of a teenager. I feel the price point justifies this design. I'm an adult m...

Re: Listening to mix on multiple sources

More recently started testing stuff out in mono as well, see what it sounds like on phone speakers as so many people listening to tunes on their phones in mono. Yep mono is good to see if there are any frequency cancellations, especially bass frequencies. It makes it real evident when one of the pa...

Re: Listening to mix on multiple sources

For me the idea behind doing all this is: 1) to gain objectivity about the mix. Maybe I've been working a few hours in mixing/mastering, and that objectivity tends to fade away. 2) searching for frequencies that lead to ear fatigue, especially in the car. 3) loss of any parts, or parts that are far ...

Most reputable places (?) will resolve this at no additional cost to you, and hopefully get this done pronto.

Re: Must liquidate hardware for more CPU power. Which ones?

I've perused this thread lightly. I built my machine in 2002 w/ an AMD Athlon and 2GB RAM. In addition to upgrading your processor to max possible, definitely add more RAM. As mentioned 4GB would probably be better. The computer uses the ram to load up multi-track recordings and some sample data. An...

Re: Problem with my vintage Yamaha synthesizer

Could be many things, needs a full diagnostic to suss out the problem. Output jack may need re-soldering. Or the op amps that drive the output might be fried. Volume pot might be broken. The problem could be anywhere.

Re: What is your favourite reverb unit?

I use a lexicon MPX550 and think I paid around $150. The presets make great starting points and I can quickly dial in the decay and wet/dry mix. The sound to me is great bang for the buck. I really do like the eventide reverb sound, and the space module, but they are usually costing quite a bit more.

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

Looks like radio shack has one shielded w/ a 1/4 on one end. Probably need 2, signal out plus another one for the ESP section input. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102952 This synth is so fun. Osc1 can go down to 32', osc2 can be set to down to 16' but detuned to 32' or go pa...

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

Ok it's here and I had my first go on it. My first impression out-of-the-box it's like a cheapish toy with how small it is and the build quality, but the sound character is serious business . I honestly don't understand this talk about it having noise detracting from the experience. Superb sound, ju...

Re: How to remove the odor from a MDF furniture?

You might try putting a sealant coat on exposed mdf surfaces. Polyurethane smells bad, too. Maybe acrylic paint?

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

If you would like to see something depressing, go over to the gearslutz thread about the MS-20 Mini and take a look at the people arguing and name-calling about the synth being noisy (which, by the way, it is). That thread has been entertaining. Noise is good, I hope it's loaded with noise. Been it...

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

I just called guitar center and they said that maybe by the 17, maybe See, this is weird because they've evidently gotten their shipment as with the 'available now' on their listing. The GC stores in big cities LA, Dallas, Boston, Chicago, NY show 'now in stock' and there was a guy here or on gears...

Hoping that is right, I would be excited the date isn't getting pushed out another month. Nova Musik is advertising on matrixsynth they have 'plenty in stock.'
