Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?

I've never played with a virus C, but apparently its the exact same engine, so you'll get pretty close to the same results if I'm not mistaken. It does have some great filters on it, lots of effects, FM, ring mod...believe me, it can sound super f**k awesome. It is nice and compact too, so you get a...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?

To be honest you can get a lot of weirdness with polyphony and some modeled classic analog sounds out of a very cheap micro korg. I know its not very fashionable at this point, but with time taken in to tweak it, and effects added on - it can sound awesome. If you want higher class - I have a dsi pr...

Re: tips for cool samples

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSIAXXO-nzM At around 2:12 is EXACTLY what I want to be able to do...but I really don't want to use software for it. Am I screwed? It's neat because the vocals are going even as it continues to sound like reverse reverb behind the dry vocals...a cool mix of the two. A...

unbelievable. I am still pinching myself. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p121/the_garranimal/DSCN0715.jpg Functions 100%. Even has a 'Lucent Technologies' transformer. Only missing two knobs and the plastic LED shield. But who cares this thing sounds CRAYYY-ZEEE insane. I've been looking for on...

Re: tips for cool samples

Thanks to all for these very cool sampler ideas, especially thanks to matt for creating a rather helpful thread! I've got a question that I'm sure can be answered rather easily - I just don't know exactly how to look it up online because I don't think I'm wording it properly...plus it just popped in...

Re: Inexpensive Drum Machine

I would highly recommend a Korg ESX-1 . A very versatile drum machine. It has sequencing, and lots of capabilities, lots of effects. I use mine on a daily basis almost. A very reliable machine to say the least. Ebay auction #1 Ebay auction #2 Used - they can definitely be had for $250...thats what I...

Re: making the hi hats interesting

I've noticed adding small amounts of flange or phase, or a combo of the two, can really add some depth to hi-hats without becoming distracting or annoying. Add more phase obviously at a faster rate to give your hats a bit of a more liquid sound, which can be quite interesting too in the right song. ...

Re: Your thoughts on Prophet 08

I picked mine up about a year or so ago, and I absolutely love it. It is one of my favorite boards. I use it for atmospheres, sound effects, leads, bass (LOTS of bass, heh), sequences, great sounding filter, DUAL arps, and I'm sure I've done more with it that I'm forgetting. The knobs feel great, I ...

Re: Saving/Using Patches on Evoler

I second the cheat sheet. I don't perform live at all - but I try my hardest to do live takes without overdubbing when recording, so I keep a cheat sheet atop whatever synth or synths I'm recording with at that time...my evolver being no exception. It is one beautiful synth, and now sitting directly...

Re: compact digi-Mellotron?

It sounds lush and has that saturated tape sound that only the mellotron strings can produce - err...well, the wave is close enough for the money! I could be way off though - you'd be better off asking someone that owns a nord wave, but hopefully soon I'll be one of those people and could answer be...

Re: Gear Trading Thread

Wanted: Used but in great shape Nord Wave Willing to trade: Near-mint Roland JP-8000 + Near-Mint Roland JX-3P + some cash . Might sound like a strange trade - so I'm sure I won't have any takers on it, but perhaps there is a Wave owner who is bored with the machine, and wants to dive into some class...

Re: WHATEVER...

Around $500? I'd suggest: SCI Prophet 600 (for mono/unison/poly analog needs) Roland SH-x (your choice of model) (alternate mono analog ) Yamaha SY77 (anything FM) Korg 01wfd (nice strings, passable piano, drum sounds, brass Roland JD800 (for filling in the cracks that the 01wfd missed) I'm not bei...

Re: compact digi-Mellotron?

I've been wanting a very serious mellotron emulator for quite some time now as well, and the only thing I've seen online that impresses me that I just don't have the money for at the moment is a nord wave...I'm dying to have one though, and might end up trading something for it in the near future if...
